American National Insurance Company (ANICO) is a major American insurance corporation based in Galveston, Texas. The company and its subsidiaries operate in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. The company's primary business is life insurance, but it also offers health insurance, annuities, property and casualty insurance, and other financial products and services. ANICO was founded in 1905 by William Lewis Moody Jr. and is still controlled by the Moody family. The company has been publicly traded on the NASDAQ since 1991.
