Position Summary

The Workday Financial Planning Technical Analyst will support the implementation and deployment of Workday Financial Planning and Workday HCM within a complex healthcare environment. This role will work closely with Finance, HR, IT, implementation partners, and business stakeholders to support system configuration, data analysis, data conversion, integrations, testing, reporting, and overall implementation activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and technical skills, experience working with financial and/or HR data, and an understanding of Workday Financial Planning/Adaptive Planning. The analyst will play a key role in analyzing current-state data and processes, supporting data mapping and transformation, validating data loads, identifying data quality issues, and helping ensure the new Workday environment is accurately populated and ready for production.

Key Responsibilities

Support the technical implementation of Workday Financial Planning/Adaptive Planning in partnership with Finance, IT, HR, and the Workday implementation team.
  • Assist with requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Analyze current-state financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes and translate requirements into Workday solutions.
  • Support development and maintenance of planning models, dimensions, hierarchies, versions, assumptions, business rules, and related planning structures.
  • Assist with configuration and validation of Workday Financial Planning functionality.
  • Support issue identification, troubleshooting, resolution, and escalation throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Data Analysis & Conversion
  • Analyze financial, organizational, workforce, and other data required for Workday implementation.
  • Perform data extraction, cleansing, transformation, mapping, reconciliation, and validation activities.
  • Develop and maintain data mapping specifications between legacy systems and Workday.
  • Identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, missing data, and structural gaps and coordinate remediation with business and technical teams.
  • Validate converted data and ensure completeness and accuracy across source and target systems.
  • Perform reconciliation of financial and workforce data before and after system loads.
  • Assist with developing repeatable processes for ongoing data validation and reporting.

Integrations & Technical Support
  • Support inbound and outbound integrations between Workday and existing financial, HR, payroll, ERP, budgeting, reporting, and other enterprise applications.
  • Assist with analysis of integration requirements, data structures, file formats, and transformation rules.
  • Work with technical teams to troubleshoot integration errors and data discrepancies.
  • Review integration results and perform downstream data validation.
  • Support testing of integrations and data exchanges throughout the implementation.

Testing & Deployment
  • Develop and execute test scenarios, test scripts, and validation procedures.
  • Support unit, system integration, regression, parallel, and user acceptance testing.
  • Analyze test results and document defects, root causes, and required remediation.
  • Coordinate with functional and technical teams to resolve implementation issues.
  • Support mock conversions, parallel testing, cutover activities, and production readiness.
  • Assist with post-go-live validation and stabilization activities.

Reporting & Analytics
  • Analyze Workday and financial planning data to support business and implementation requirements.
  • Assist with development and validation of reports, dashboards, and analytical outputs.
  • Support reconciliation and reporting across Finance, HR, and other enterprise systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide ad hoc data analysis to support implementation decisions and stakeholder requirements.

Documentation & Stakeholder Support
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, data mappings, process documentation, test scripts, and implementation materials.
  • Document business rules, data definitions, interfaces, and system dependencies.
  • Participate in project meetings, working sessions, and design discussions.
  • Communicate technical findings and data issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with Workday consultants, internal IT teams, Finance, HR, and other business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems analysis, data analysis, ERP implementation, financial systems, HR systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with data analysis, data mapping, data conversion, reconciliation, and data validation.
  • Experience with Workday Financial Planning / Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Experience supporting a Workday HCM implementation.
  • Experience integrating Workday with Epic
  • Strong SQL and/or data querying experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, lookups, pivot tables, and reconciliation.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, relational concepts, and system interfaces.
  • Experience supporting system implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Workday integrations, reporting, or data conversion.
  • Experience with Workday Studio, EIBs, APIs, or other Workday integration technologies.
  • Experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting systems.
  • Experience working with ERP or financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
  • Healthcare industry experience, particularly within a health system or large healthcare organization.
  • Experience with ETL/data transformation tools and enterprise data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with HR, workforce, general ledger, cost center, organizational hierarchy, and financial master data.
  • Experience working with implementation partners and cross-functional project teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Over 90% of the time is spent indoors, with protection from weather conditions. Exposure to noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable is present in only unusual situations.
