Full Job Description
Athena OB/GYN, an Axia Women's Health care center, is seeking a **Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP)**, to work M-F. No Weekends! - 3 Pennsylvania locations: **Langhorne**, **Horsham**, and **Abington** - 10 Ob/Gyn Physicians and 4 Nurse Practitioners - On-site ultrasound, 3D Mammography, and in-house lab work. Physician Assistants are not being considered at this time. **Position Summary:** The **Nurse Practitioner** provides comprehensive, specialized care to women across the lifespan, focusing on reproductive health, gynecological issues, family planning, and wellness promotion. - Practices under the standard procedure established for the Nurse Practitioner role consistent with company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements. - Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol. - Performs routine physical examinations within scope of practice, including pelvic examinations, breast examinations, PAP tests, and any relevant infection screenings. Performs **IUD** and **Nexplanon insertions/removals**, **Endometrial Biopsies**, works with **Pessaries** - education & maintenance; may perform **Colposcopies**. - Provides education on women's issues, preventative care, contraceptive methods, and lifestyle modifications. - Orders diagnostic tests and prescribes medications within scope of practice. - Provides expert, compassionate care for women during the menopausal transition (perimenopause, Menopause, postmenopausal) by managing symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep issues, educating patients on treatment options (hormonal/non-hormonal), offering lifestyle advice (diet, exercise, supplements), and supporting overall well-being with evidence-based care. - Manages prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum visits, screening for pregnancy complications and evaluating physical and mental wellbeing after birth. - Confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically, collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators and participates in the overall coordination of patient care. - Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy. - Consults with supervising physicians or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings. - Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to ensure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service. - Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols. - Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families. - Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice. - Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate people, and documenting events. - Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning. - Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team. - Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
