Job Description:

The Windows and Infrastructure Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization's Windows-based server, infrastructure, and end-user computing environment. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance across both backend systems and frontline endpoints. The position also requires familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and federal compliance requirements, including NIST 800-171 and NASA/DoD security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Server & Infrastructure Administration
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Group Policy, and associated infrastructure services.
  • Manage and troubleshoot virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Administer DNS, DHCP, file/print services, certificate services, and identity/access solutions.
  • Implement monitoring, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management for all Infrastructure components.
  • Support and secure hybrid/cloud environments (Azure, M365), including identity sync, policies, and role-based access.
  • Maintain backups, disaster recovery, continuity-of-operations plans, and recovery testing.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and compliance-related evidence.

Windows End-User OS, Device, and User Support
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows 10/11 end-user systems, applications, and device policies.
  • Deploy and manage workstations and mobile devices using Intune, SCCM, Autopilot, or similar tools.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for OS, device, authentication, and application issues.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, peripheral, and network connectivity problems.
  • Maintain secure endpoint images, application packages, and compliance baselines.
    Support onboarding/offboarding and access provisioning.

Cybersecurity, Compliance, and Federal/NASA/DoD Requirements
  • Apply cybersecurity best practices across servers, endpoints, identity systems, and networks.
  • Support compliance with NIST SP 800-171, including access controls, audit logging, incident response procedures, and secure system configuration.
  • Assist in maintaining SSPs (System Security Plans), POA&Ms, and other security documentation.
  • Implement and follow security controls required for federal, NASA, or DoD environments as applicable, including handling of controlled unclassified information (CUI).
  • Support vulnerability management processes, including remediation of findings from scans, assessments, or audits.
  • Ensure adherence to MFA, encryption, least privilege, and configuration baselines. Coordinate with cybersecurity teams and security officials (e.g., ISSOs) to maintain compliance and readiness for assessments.


Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • B.S. in related field plus 6 - 10 years' experience.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration, domain services, virtualization, and core infrastructure operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, device management platforms, and end-user support practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud identity and security controls in Azure/M365.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure configuration practices, and vulnerability management.
  • Understanding of NIST 800-171 requirements and compliance-related processes.
  • Ability to work in regulated environments such as NASA, federal agencies, or DoD organizations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as MCSA/MCSE, Azure Administrator, Security+, CySA+, or similar.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation workflows.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Experience supporting systems in secure federal or defense environments (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, DFARS).


Work Environment:
  • Occasional after-hours maintenance or incident response may be required.
  • Potential for hybrid work, some in office and some telework.
  • May involve working in small data center environments and handling IT equipment.
  • Regular collaboration with cybersecurity, compliance, and cross-functional technical teams.


Salary range: $80-85K
