Job Title
Well Planning Geologist III
Compensation: $150/hr (1099)
Location: Spring, TX 77389
Schedule: 5/2, 40 hours per week
Target Start Date: ASAP

Scope / Overview
The Operations / Wellsite Geologist III will support unconventional well planning activities focused on horizontal development programs. This office-based role is responsible for refining target windows, delivering well planning products, and partnering with drilling and development teams to optimize well placement and execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Correlate and refine target windows for horizontal well planning using subsurface interpretations, logs, and offset well data
  • Develop well planning deliverables including target maps, structure maps, cross sections, and target windows
  • Support drilling execution teams through pre-spud planning and execution alignment
  • Identify local geologic variability and communicate operational risks and constraints
  • Incorporate offset well results and lessons learned to improve well planning templates
  • Ensure execution learnings are integrated into future development targeting decisions
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across geology, drilling, completions, and development
Required Experience
  • Mid to advanced experience in unconventional oil and gas operations
  • Previous experience in well planning and geologic operations
  • Midland Basin experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of horizontal well planning and subsurface interpretation
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Education & Certifications
  • Master's degree in Geoscience preferred

  • Kingdom - Mandatory
  • Petrel - Preferred
