Job Title: Well Operations Technician Sr

Specific Responsibilities

The Well Operations Technician is a technical position that is responsible for the optimization of all wells through its entire life cycle, from flowback to Plug & Abandonment. This position is expected to become an expert on all forms of surface operations and downhole artificial lift, including Rod Pump, ESP, Plunger Lift, Gas Lift, PAGL, Intermittent Lift, Jet Pump, and Progressive Cavity Pump.

  • Communicate with the engineering team to choose the correct forms of artificial lift, troubleshoot wells, test new forms of technology, and minimize failure rates.
  • Lead failure meetings to identify root causes and improvement opportunities with cross-function team of engineering, workover, chemical and lease operator representatives.
  • Install calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair pump off controllers, radios, and drives.
  • Troubleshoot problem wells using multiple tools and techniques both in the field and computer.
  • Thorough familiarity with all configuration and inspection of rod pumps, including annual pumping unit inspections and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot all forms of artificial lift through personal knowledge or external resources.
  • Work with a multi-disciplined team to complete maintenance on well pad surface equipment.
  • Perform artificial lift design using Rodstar.
  • Complete failure analysis on wells before turning over to engineering.
  • Coordinate with workover team during well intervention.
  • Operate and perform minor repairs on model D and E Echometers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with PC based computer applications including but not limited to MS Office applications, Cygnet, TAM, OFM, Avocet, XBal.
  • Assist in evaluation of chemical programs, maintaining consistent communication with the chemical team.
  • Supervise crews and cranes on pumping unit moves and repairs.
  • Attend pump teardowns and work with pump shops, engineering and the chemical team to complete Root Cause Failure Analysis on all downhole equipment failure.
  • Mentor lease operators on troubleshooting wells and issues at the facilities.
  • Handle all regulatory matters including handling the H-5s, H-15s, and MITs
  • Supervise well stimulations and smaller intervention work including wireline, slickline, swabbing units.
  • Handle miscellaneous jobs as needed, including flowback, data integrity reviews, hot watering, and temporary assistant foreman duties.
