What You'll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and provide day-to-day direction to the welding team, including assigning work, coordinating priorities, and monitoring progress to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, technical guidance, coaching, and support to welders and other team members.
  • Read and interpret engineered drawings and ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and applicable welding standards.
  • Fabricate and repair structures and equipment by welding various materials using appropriate welding techniques and equipment.
  • Inspect completed welding and fabrication work to ensure quality and workmanship standards are met.
  • Support the training and development of welders, including new team members and apprentices.
  • Coordinate welding and fabrication requirements, including labour, materials, equipment, and timelines.
  • Troubleshoot welding, fabrication, and workflow issues and provide technical recommendations as required.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment, ensuring safe work practices and company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Support daily safety activities and reinforce a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of fleet equipment in preparation for orders.
  • Fabricate and repair structures and equipment on customers' sites as needed.
  • Work outside in variable weather conditions and temperature ranges.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations and other internal teams to prioritize work and support business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve welding processes, quality, productivity, and overall shop efficiency.
  • Perform other welding, fabrication, and supervisory duties as required.


What You'll Bring to the Team

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Valid Class G driver's license with a clean or satisfactory driver's abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated abstract upon request.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in structural fitting, welding, and fabrication, including experience welding steel and aluminum.
  • Previous experience providing leadership, direction, or technical guidance to others is preferred; Lead Hand or supervisory experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong structural fitting and welding experience.
  • SMAW, GMAW and/or FCAW certifications are an asset.
  • CWB certification for stick welding is an asset.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineered drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, materials, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, support, and motivate team members.
  • Rigging experience is an asset.
  • Customer oriented, with a willingness to learn and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round.
  • Willing and available to work overtime when needed.
  • Highly adaptable, self-motivated, and able to effectively manage changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with employees, colleagues, customers, and other parties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
