Weld Inspector, Aerospace Level III

About the Position:

Intuitive Machines is seeking a Level III Welding Inspector to join our team. The Aerospace Level III X-Ray Welding Inspector is responsible for overseeing and performing advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) on welded aerospace components using radiographic (X-ray) inspection methods. This role ensures compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry standards while supporting production, engineering, and quality operations. The Level III Inspector provides technical guidance, certifies personnel, develops procedures, and ensures that all radiographic inspections are performed accurately, safely, and consistently. A candidate for this position will be encouraged to take on as much responsibility as practical and will be expected to play a role in the manufacturing and implementation of parts that will support or be part of the Lunar program. This includes but is not limited to the Lunar Lander, Satellites, Payloads support, Test and Verification and others.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform and interpret radiographic (X-ray) inspections on welded aerospace componentsin accordance withNAS 410, ASNT SNT-TC-1A, or equivalent standards.
  • Serve as Level III authority for radiographic testing (RT), including oversight of Level I and II NDT personnel.
  • Develop, authorize, andmaintainNDT procedures, work instructions, and inspection techniques.
  • Review weld quality, evaluate discontinuities, anddetermineproduct acceptance based on engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Lead and manage certification, training, and technical evaluations for NDT personnel.
  • Ensure all inspection activitiescomply withradiation safety protocols andmaintainrequired documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve weld and material quality issues.
  • Support MRB activities, root-cause investigations, and corrective action planning.
  • Maintainall NDT records, including film, digital archives, technique sheets, and calibration data.
  • Interface with customers, auditors, and regulatory bodies during assessments or program reviews.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for weld quality, inspection efficiency, and equipment capability.

Requirements:
  • Current NDT Level III certification in Radiography (RT)in accordance withNAS 410, ASNT SNT-TC-1A, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience performing radiographic inspection in aerospace manufacturing or repair environments.
  • Demonstratedexpertisein weld evaluation, defect characterization, and radiographic interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials, welding processes, and associated discontinuities.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety regulations and safe operating procedures.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Additional NDT certifications (VT, PT, MT, UT).
  • Experience with digital radiography (DR/CR) systems.
  • Knowledge of AWS D17.1, ASME standards, and aerospace welding requirements.
  • Experience with NADCAP audits and compliance.
  • Prior involvement in MRB processes, failure analysis, or advanced root-cause investigations
