We are seeking a qualified
Low Mid-Level Weapon System Mechanical Engineer in
Arlington, VA. This position is not eligible for hybrid or remote work situations. This is a 100% on-site, in-office position.
YOU MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR A DOD SECRET CLEARANCEPosition Description:The selectee will perform as the Decision Technologies Weapon System Mechanical Engineer for a US Navy Weapons Engineering and Program Acquisition Support contract. In the accomplishment of this task, the selectee will be directly responsible for the following:
- Hardware Design & Integration: Lead mechanical and systems engineering efforts for advanced terminal defense weapon systems, conducting hands-on design reviews, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring physical hardware outputs meet Navy specifications.
- Environmental & Shock Qualification: Drive hardware shock qualification, environmental testing, and performance assessments for critical systems. Interpret requirements, review technical analyses, and verify physical conformance for deployment across multiple ship classes.
- Cost-Performance Analysis: Analyze historical cost and performance data for hardware and sensor programs to build data-driven estimates. Support OEM proposal evaluations, material cost negotiations, and Should Cost analyses to ensure competitive pricing for the government.
- Stakeholder & Contractor Liaison: Serve as the primary engineering liaison between OEM contractors and Navy stakeholders, translating mechanical project requirements into actionable objectives and leading Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs).
- Technical Data & Specifications: Review and provide technical comments on mechanical specifications, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), ship installation drawings (SIDs), and hardware Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Installation & Modernization Support: Support in-service installation planning and physical integration efforts, ensuring hardware modifications and launcher replacements during depot maintenance cycles align with combat system requirements.
Required Qualifications and Skills:- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical discipline
- Low Mid: At least 3 years' experience as a DoD systems engineer (non-IT systems) performing requirements analysis, weapon systems integration analysis, or weapon systems design
Desired Qualifications and Skills:- Master's Degree in a relevant technical discipline
- Direct experience with systems engineering for specific Navy terminal defense systems such as RAM and CIWS.
- An active DoD SECRET clearance
- Prior SIPR account and experience using SIPR systems
- Ability to work effectively with team members and subcontractors from various technical, acquisition, and administrative disciplines
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to develop and deliver coherent and concise customer presentations

The pay range for this role is:
90,000 - 120,000 USD per year (PAE Munitions Crystal City)
