Responsibilities
NV5 is seeking a full-time Drainage Project Engineer to join our Alpharetta, GA office. The Engineer will provide engineering design, plan preparation, support, and assistance on projects for the transportation group. The ideal candidate would have between 5 and 10 years experience. They will be responsible for design and completion assigned projects on time, within budget, and of high quality. The most frequent and essential work activities include:
- Complete hydraulic design projects under the direct supervision of a project manager. Project types includes storm drainage for transportation type project, hydraulics modeling for bridge/culvert replacements, neighborhood storm drainage projects, and preparation of erosion control plans on various related project types.
- Provide engineering design, support, and assistance of projects within the transportation group
- Design and complete assigned projects on time, within budget and of high quality.
- Preparation of civil engineering design documents and providing Project Engineer duties for various storm drainage and transportation related projects.
- Position may require some supervision and mentoring of junior staff. Secondary duties may include preparation of technical reports, preparation of SWPPPs, and preparation of scopes of work and fee estimates.
Qualifications
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 5-10 years of previous water resources or engineering experience
- GA Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within one year.
- Proficient in preparation of FEMA Flood Studies
- Proficient with MicroStation V8i or Openroads design software
- Proficient with HEC-RAS, HY8, FlowMaster, Pond Pack, StormCAD, and HEC-RAS 2D drainage design softwares
- GDOT and/or Municipal experience preferred
- Must be willing to travel on occasion.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment preferred.
