Full Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our growing team in Denver, Colorado. In this role, you will support and lead a variety of water resources projects across mining, industrial, municipal, and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of innovative water management solutions, including hydrologic and hydraulic studies, mine water management systems, stormwater infrastructure, water balance evaluations, and permitting support. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex mining projects throughout North America while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically sound and sustainable solutions. Key Responsibilities • Lead and perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for mining, infrastructure, and water resources projects. • Develop site water balance models, stormwater management plans, and surface water diversion designs. • Support mine water management projects, including dewatering systems, tailings facility water management, contact water controls, and closure planning. • Conduct flood assessments, drainage studies, and watershed evaluations. • Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications, and design documents. • Collaborate with geotechnical, civil, environmental, and mining engineers to develop integrated project solutions. • Support environmental permitting efforts related to water resources and mining developments. • Participate in client meetings, project planning activities, and business development initiatives. • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff. • Support construction-phase services, including design reviews, site inspections, and field investigations. Qualifications Minimum Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline and 4+ years of professional water resources engineering experience, including experience supporting mining projects, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering with significant involvement in mining-related water management projects. • Professional Engineer (PE) license. • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-HMS, GoldSim, PCSWMM, Civil3D, or similar tools. • Experience supporting mine permitting, closure planning, and environmental compliance efforts. • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing client relationships. • Experience working on large-scale mining, industrial, or infrastructure projects throughout North America.
