Position Overview

CP is experiencing exciting, sustained growth and is looking for a talented Water Resources Design Engineer to join our dynamic Water Resources practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution and collection systems. Compensation range: $120,000-$150,000

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Engineering: Plan and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution and collection systems in accordance with AWWA, ASCE, NSF/ANSI standards, and applicable regulations, including the Clean Water Act (CWA) and Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). Designs will thoughtfully integrate and consider client needs, operability, and constructability.
  • Feasibility & Planning Studies: Perform feasibility studies for water resources projects, incorporating hydraulic process and environmental evaluations and analyses in accordance with EPA and NJDEP guidelines to develop optimized, cost-effective solutions for clients.
  • Technical Documentation & Deliverables: Prepare engineering calculations, engineering reports, technical specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents that conform to NJDEP regulations, NPDES permitting criteria, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Site Investigations: Conduct site inspections and field assessments to support design and construction phase efforts to ensure designs are implemented in compliance with NJDEP, EPA, and local environmental standards and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Regulatory Coordination & Compliance: Lead and support regulatory permitting efforts, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, including NJPDES permits, Treatment Works Approvals, and the Bureau of Water System Engineering.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate and Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams (Structural, Civil, MEP) as well as vendors and subcontractors to deliver integrated, high-quality project solutions.
  • Project Delivery & Growth Support: Manage technical scope, budgets, and schedules in a fast-paced environment, contributing to CP's continued growth and expanding project portfolio. Demonstrated experience and understanding of maintaining fast-paced project budgets and schedules.
  • Mentorship & Team Development: Mentor and support junior engineering staff, sharing technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and design procedures to strengthen the Water Resources Practice.
  • Sustainability & Best Practices: Incorporate energy and water efficiency measures, life cycle cost analysis, and sustainable design principles as recommended by EPA and national water resources planning guidelines


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in water resources engineering
  • PE License or on track to obtain within reasonable amount of time
  • Strong knowledge of NJDEP regulations, permitting processes, and relevant federal standards (EPA, CWA, SDWA)
  • Experience with AutoCAD and technical report writing
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed
