Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Water Quality Technician Lead. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Thursday, 6 AM to 4:30 PM, with Friday off.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone who will work as part of a team to perform advanced technical duties related to the protection of the water distribution system, including the implementation of the city's cross-connection control program, collection of drinking water samples for regulatory compliance and operational process control, responding to customer service calls regarding water quality issues, and verifying proper disinfection and flushing of new water lines. This person will also provide lead directions to Water Quality Senior Technicians, ensuring work quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Minimum qualifications
• Associate's degree or 60 credit hours towards a degree in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences or a related field; and
• 3 years of experience with physical or chemical testing, water treatment, water distribution system, sewer system maintenance or directly related field; and
• an ADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment or Water Distribution Certification upon hire or promotion; and
• a Backflow Assembly Tester Certification upon hire or promotion; and
• Cross Connection Specialist Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion; and
• a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or
• any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
