Full Job Description
This is a critical leadership position, where you will manage multiple teams, including Group Managers, Project Managers, and Engineers, ensuring the successful execution of projects and achievement of business goals across the region.

This position can be based in any of T&M's New Jersey offices, including Middletown, Toms River, Mount Laurel, or Bloomfield. The Department Manager will lead water teams across North, Central, and South Jersey and work closely with market leaders to develop business strategies that align with overall company goals. This role also offers the opportunity to collaborate with the Regional Market Leader in the Northeast to plan and drive growth initiatives in the Water sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage multiple technical teams, including Group Managers, Project Managers, and Engineers, to ensure successful project completion and business outcomes across the region
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction on water/wastewater engineering projects, ensuring compliance with all technical and regulatory standards
  • Guide the team in the design, planning, and optimization of infrastructure for water systems such as treatment plants, watermain replacement, sewer systems, booster stations, and wastewater pumping stations
  • Oversee business development efforts, including proposal preparation, and collaborate with peers across the organization to support team goals and company success
  • Coordinate and manage the delivery of projects, ensuring they meet established deadlines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Monitor and manage project finances, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and collections
  • Mentor and develop staff through effective recruitment, training, and performance management practices
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to ensure alignment of projects and goals with the company's overall strategy for growth and success

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with New Jersey licensure preferred
  • 15-20 years of experience in water, wastewater, and sewer engineering, with a strong background in project management, client relations, and staff development
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale water/wastewater projects, including budgeting, design, and client engagement
  • Demonstrated expertise in business management, including workload forecasting, business planning, KPI attainment, invoicing/collections, recruitment, and staff development
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in team-building, collaboration, and strategic planning
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and work independently or as part of a team

T&M estimates that the salary range for this position will fall between $160,000 - $195,000The actual salary offered may vary within this range, depending on a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, educational qualifications, specific skills and knowledge, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
