Warehouse Safety Manager

Position: Warehouse Safety Manager | Department: Safety & Compliance | Reports to: Director of Safety & Compliance | Location: Woodbridge, NJ with travel to FreezPak locations

Position summary

The Warehouse Safety Manager supports safe daily operations across FreezPak's temperature-controlled 3PL warehouses. This role works with GMs, Operations, HR, Maintenance, supervisors, and site compliance practitioners to prevent injuries, correct hazards, and maintain consistent safety practices for employees working in freezer, cooler, loading dock, and warehouse areas.

Essential responsibilities

  • Maintain practical safety procedures for freezer/cooler work, docks, trailer loading and unloading, pallet movement, storage racks, and warehouse traffic.
  • Support safe operation of forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment, including training and qualification records.
  • Conduct site safety walks, hazard observations, inspections, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Review injuries, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns promptly; help identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Promote immediate and accurate reporting of incidents, hazards, and near misses without retaliation or discouragement.
  • Support programs involving PPE, slips/trips/falls, pedestrian traffic, ergonomics, lifting, battery charging, emergency response, fire safety, and cold-environment work.
  • Provide coaching and practical support to site compliance practitioners and warehouse leaders.
  • Assist with OSHA, insurance, customer, and internal safety reviews.
  • Deliver or coordinate safety orientation, refresher training, supervisor coaching, and toolbox talks.
  • Provide regular safety updates, trends, open corrective actions, and serious-incident escalations to the Director of Safety & Compliance.
  • Travel to FreezPak locations as needed and respond to serious incidents or urgent safety concerns.


Travel Requirements: This position requires approximately 30%-40% travel to FreezPak locations to support safety programs, conduct site assessments, provide training, and ensure consistent safety practices across facilities.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of safety experience in warehousing, logistics, cold storage, distribution, or a similar industrial environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA general-industry requirements and common warehouse hazards.
  • Experience with forklift safety, incident review, inspections, training, and corrective-action follow-up.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with hourly employees, supervisors, site leaders, and executives. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in freezer and cooler environments and travel to company locations.
  • OSHA 30, ASP, CSP, or similar credential preferred but not required.


Success measures

  • Employees understand how and when to report injuries, near misses, and hazards.
  • Required training, inspections, and corrective actions are completed and documented.
  • High-risk hazards are addressed promptly and repeat issues are reduced.
  • Safety practices are consistent across FreezPak locations.
  • Incident investigations focus on learning and prevention, not discouraging reporting.


Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $75,000-$110,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and applicable market factors.
