Job Responsibilities- Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, manages and is responsible for all administrative, security, safety, welfare, and programmatic missions/activities for Broad River Correctional Institution.
- Ensures that all inmates assigned to this level iii facility are secured and held in custody until released by proper authority.
- Ensures the safety of all assigned employees.
- Plans and implements programs for the inmates assigned to the institution.
- Responds to and coordinates efforts relating to disturbances within the institution.
- The incumbent will be assigned an emergency vehicle to immediately respond to and coordinate efforts relating to disturbances/emergencies within the institution.
- Ensures that institutional operations and programs are conducted in accordance with state laws, SCDC policy and good management practices; and that these functions are carried out in a cost-effective manner. The incumbent is on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

vMinimum and Additional RequirementsState of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: - A high school diploma and twelve (12) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, which include six (6) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
- A bachelor's degree may substitute for 4 years of overall experience. Associate degree may substitute for 2 years of overall experience. No substitutions for supervisory experience.
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
