Position SummaryThe Project Manager III leads high-profile and/or complex projects and programs that require advanced coordination, strategic decision-making, and collaboration across multiple disciplines and stakeholders. They are accountable for project performance outcomes, quality, client satisfaction, and the successful integration of internal teams and sub-consultants. They serve as trusted leaders within project delivery while contributing to business development efforts through strengthening client relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and supporting strategic pursuits.
Essential Job Functions & AccountabilitiesProject Management
- Leads cross-discipline or strategically complex projects, coordinating all aspects of planning, execution, and client experience.
- Develops and negotiates proposals, contracts, and budgets for high-visibility or multi-phase projects; advises others on complex scoping.
- Directs project deliverables across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timelines.
- Manages client service and project communication, maintaining proactive communication throughout the project life cycle.
- Leads financial oversight for complex project budgets, proactively addressing risks and making real-time adjustments.
- Accountable for delivery success across complex or high-risk efforts, ensuring both outcomes and client satisfaction. Leads efforts to improve performance and ensure consistent adherence to applicable quality standards. Selects sub-consultants and manages and maintains relationships with them.
Program Management (where applicable)
- Leads development of program contracts and project fee matrices for large or complex programs.
- Manages client service and communication, maintaining proactive communication throughout the project life cycle.
- Oversees and coordinates all aspects of program project execution, ensuring proper resource management strategies and meeting client expectations.
Quality
- Manages project quality expectations across disciplines, proactively addressing issues to maintain standards.
- Ensures deliverables meet project goals and proactively identifies risks to quality expectations.
- Develops scopes of work and fees for complex or strategic projects, ensuring alignment with risk and delivery considerations.
- Provides technical insight on project production when applicable. Proactively identifies cross-team project conflicts and collaborates with stakeholders to drive resolution before impact.
Client Experience
- Serves as the primary program contact and visible leader across multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Maintains regular communication with clients and sub-consultants to ensure satisfaction with the project process and engineering work product, and that client views are managed toward the best solution.
- Anticipates potential client issues and proactively leads communication to navigate conflict and reinforce trust.
- Collaborates with leadership to shape and implement BD strategies aligned with sector or practice goals.
- Leads relationship development efforts for key clients or partners, acting as a connector across teams or sectors.
Leadership/Employee Engagement
- Leads cross-functional teams and oversees PMs on related projects or programs as needed.
- Advises and mentors across multiple project teams, sharing best practices and guiding through complex delivery scenarios.
- Partners with leadership to inform talent development strategies based on observed strengths and capability gaps.
- Demonstrates sustainability fluency and integrates project-specific sustainability actions with broader firm goals.

Required Education, Experience, Licenses & Technical Competencies- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, science, technology, or business required. Relevant experience within the AEC or Professional Services industry may be considered in lieu of requisite education.
- 10 years of relevant experience required, including a minimum of 9 years of project management experience. Minimum 14 years of experience required without degree.
- Advanced proficiency in project management standards and execution.
- Advanced knowledge and application of building design and construction principles required.
- PMP certification preferred
- Self-starter with the ability to influence and motivate others to achieve goals.
- Proven track record of effective collaboration, communication and organization skills.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described in this job description.
Physical Requirements- Other duties as assigned.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Occasional travel may be required (10-15%)
