- VSP is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our team and play a crucial role in the Data Strategy project for establishing an enterprise data solution at Virginia State Police. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for overseeing our data systems and reporting frameworks, guaranteeing the integrity and precision of data.
- You will transform raw data into structured information, which will then be analyzed to glean insights that drive strategic business decisions.
- This position encompasses a comprehensive analysis lifecycle, covering requirement gathering, activity execution, design planning, assessing master data set and complex data systems developing reports, troubleshooting data issues, and providing technical expertise in data storage
- structures, data mining, data cleansing and supporting ad-hoc requests related to data migration.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with internal and external teams to understand data needs and objectives.
- Gather data from primary and secondary sources, ensuring the upkeep of databases and data systems.
- Detect, examine, and decode trends or patterns within intricate datasets.
- Extract, clean, and transform data from diverse sources for analysis.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Examine data quality, applications, and functions to ensure accurate migration.
- Cleanse data and scrutinize computer-generated reports and outputs to identify and rectify coding errors. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Generate visualizations and reports for stakeholders and collaborate with the management team to determine and rank the needs of different business units.
- Partner with engineering and product development teams to understand business requirements. Employ statistical techniques to scrutinize data and produce actionable business insights.
- Engage with SMEs of various departments to specify data requirements for analysis projects tailored to their unique business processes.
Qualifications:- Proven experience as a Data Analyst or related role.
- Technical expertise regarding data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and databases (SQL, etc.).
- Proficient in programming languages(Python, R, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
- Capable of critically evaluating data to derive meaningful, actionable insights.
- Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science).
