Full Job Description
We are seeking a VP User Experience to join our team. This role will provide leadership for the User Experience (UX) Design team responsible for creating intuitive, accessible, and consistent customer-facing digital experiences. Partners closely with software engineering, product, and business teams to establish user experience standards, maintain design systems, and guide solution design. The role balances user experience quality with practical investment decisions while enabling development teams to efficiently deliver user interfaces aligned with enterprise brand standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with software engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure experiences are feasible, maintainable, and aligned with established standards.
  • Create reusable design patterns, component libraries, and implementation guidance that enable developers to deliver consistent user experiences.
  • Govern adherence to enterprise branding, interaction standards, and accessibility requirements across digital products.
  • Prioritize UX investments based on customer value, business impact, delivery efficiency, and long-term maintainability.
  • Foster strong collaboration among design, engineering, architecture, product, and business stakeholders.
  • Measure and improve user experience through usability, adoption, and customer experience metrics.
  • Champion modern UX, accessibility, and front-end design practices across the organization.


Leadership Duties

  • Share leadership with team members by empowering them to make decisions. This includes allowing them to take initiative, providing access to information and resources, and holding them accountable. Encourage team members to act autonomously and to contribute ideas and solutions.
  • Provide team leadership, shared vision, and positive communications to achieve the Associations' vision and strategy consistent with the Associations' core values and team principles. Build strong relationships and collaborative partnerships within the Associations to understand the business opportunities and challenges.
  • Establish a positive, participative, and collaborative team environment that inspires creative, high-performing, continuous learning, and engaged team members. Utilize consensus decision-making, when appropriate, to diversify thinking and enable and empower teammates.
  • Responsible for attracting, selecting, and on-boarding a diverse and qualified team and determining the appropriate team resource requirements to meet the Associations' strategic direction.
  • Develop team members through coaching, training and development, opportunities, and on-going performance feedback including timely follow-up on individual development plans; counsel team members on Talent Management activities.
  • Complete and/or recommend salary administration for team members in accordance with Association procedures.
  • Develop and monitor the business plan and annual operating budgets related to areas of responsibilities. Review and approve operational expenditures within delegated authority.


Travel Time

  • Travel time during the day = 25%
  • Travel time overnight = 25%


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Engineering, Industrial/Communication Design, Computer Science, Fine Arts, Design or related disciplines.


Years of Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience, including prior leadership experience, as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role preferred. Five or more years of team leadership experience preferred, along with experience designing responsive and mobile technologies.


Certification and Technical Requirements

  • Understanding of product and software development tools and processes. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, agile culture.
  • Experience working in responsive mobile technologies.
  • Proficiency with technology and tools such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Sketch, Figma, Zeplin, and UXPin.
