What to expect as a Business Development Officer (BDO)
The Business Development Officer (BDO) for Factoring and Asset-Based Lending (ABL) is responsible for originating, structuring, and closing new business opportunities. This role is integral to the growth and success of the Structured Finance Division, requiring a proactive approach to business development, client relationship management, and industry engagement.
What You'll Contribute in This Role:
Business Development
Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with prospective clients.
Develop and execute a strategy to meet or exceed annual new business funding targets.
Leverage industry networks, referral sources, and marketing strategies to generate a consistent pipeline of high-quality leads.
Sales & Client Management
Conduct in-depth needs assessments to understand client financial requirements and present tailored financing solutions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with referral partners, including brokers, CPAs, attorneys, and industry associations.
Represent the Structured Finance Division at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote services and build the division's brand.
Structuring & Closing Deals
Work collaboratively with internal underwriting, operations, and credit teams to structure and close deals efficiently.
Ensure all deals align with the division's credit policies and risk appetite.
Negotiate terms and pricing with clients while maintaining a focus on achieving profitability and client satisfaction.
Market & Industry Expertise
Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and changes in the factoring and ABL landscape.
Provide feedback to leadership regarding market conditions and opportunities for product or service enhancements.
Pipeline & Portfolio Management
Build and maintain a robust pipeline with clearly defined stages and next steps.
Generate a balanced portfolio of deals across various industries and credit profiles.
