Full Job Description
The UnitedHealthcare Provider Partnership (UPP) team partners with provider organizations to improve quality, affordability, utilization, member experience, and value-based care performance across UnitedHealthcare. UPP serves as the primary provider-facing organization responsible for provider partnerships, performance improvement, and execution of enterprise strategies that drive measurable provider, business, and member outcomes.

The Vice President, Provider Partnerships, Execution & Performance is accountable for the national execution, organizational performance, and continued evolution of the integrated UPP provider-facing organization. Reporting to the SVP, this leader oversees an organization of approximately 400 employees through five Regional Vice Presidents and multiple layers of leadership, including Directors, Associate Directors, Managers and provider-facing roles. The Vice President is accountable for execution of enterprise provider engagement strategies and performance outcomes across all provider segments, incentive arrangements, and lines of business.

This role serves as the primary operational and execution counterpart to the Vice President, Strategy & Performance Management, translating enterprise priorities, incentive strategies, segmentation approaches, performance insights, reporting capabilities, and operating model designs into consistent field execution across markets. The Vice President ensures provider-facing teams are aligned, equipped, and accountable to deliver measurable performance improvement across all lines of business (Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial) and incentive and value-based care arrangements. This role partners closely with Market CEOs, Network, Provider Operations, Clinical, Quality, Product, Technology, Finance, Analytics, and other enterprise leaders to identify and remove systemic barriers to improve provider outcomes.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead five Regional Vice Presidents and multiple layers of leadership responsible for provider partnerships, execution, and performance improvement
  • Translate enterprise and market provider engagement strategies into clear operating Priorities, execution plans, leadership expectations, and measurable outcomes
  • Establish workforce strategies, deployment models, performance routines, and accountability mechanisms that ensure consistent execution across markets, incentive types and lines of business (Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial)
  • Lead execution of affordability, utilization, and ACO strategies through provider-facing teams, ensuring consistent adoption, accountability, and measurable improvement in Total Cost of Care and utilization outcomes
  • Monitor organizational performance, identify execution risks, and ensure regional leaders take timely action to address performance gaps and remove barriers
  • Partner across Network, Provider Operations, Clinical, Quality, Product, Technology, Finance, Analytics, Pharmacy, and Market Leadership to identify provider-level, market-level, and systemic barriers impacting quality and utilization performance and lead cross-functional efforts to address root causes, variation in care delivery and affordability performance
  • Influence enterprise priorities, investment decisions and operating model through provider Insights, market intelligence, and performance data
  • Drive development of enabling technologies, CRM capabilities, reporting tools, standardized templates, SOPs, and workflow practices that support execution
  • Ensure provider-facing teams use data, insights, and consultative engagement to drive measurable improvement in provider and member outcomes
  • Establish feedback loops between field execution, provider experience, analytics, reporting, and strategy teams to inform ongoing refinement of strategies and tools
  • Assess and strengthen organizational capabilities, structure, resource alignment, and field effectiveness to meet current and future business needs
  • Scale best practices across markets and reduce unnecessary variation while preserving local flexibility to improve provider adoption, field effectiveness, and performance outcomes
  • Strengthen leadership development and employee experience required to support organizational transformation, scale, and long-term business performance
  • Champion a culture focused on partnership, performance, inclusion, learning, and continuous improvement
  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team through Regional Vice Presidents, ensuring succession readiness, organizational capability, and leadership consistency across UPP

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of healthcare experience in provider performance, provider engagement, quality improvement, health plan operations, value-based care, network management, or related disciplines
  • 10+ years of experience leading business/healthcare strategy and execution across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated success leading provider-facing or field-based organizations and delivering measurable business outcomes at scale
  • Experience designing and translating enterprise strategy into execution across complex, matrixed organizations
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation, operating model deployment, change management, and large-scale change initiatives
  • Solid understanding of provider engagement models, quality performance, provider incentive programs, utilization management, affordability initiatives, Total Cost of Care management, ACO models and value-based care
  • Proven ability to influence provider executives, Market CEOs, senior business leaders, and enterprise stakeholders
  • Solid strategic planning, organizational leadership, performance management, analytical, and communication capabilities


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, such as MBA, MHA, MPH, clinical degree, or related field
  • Experience working across Medicaid, Medicare and Commercial lines of business
  • Experience leading national or multi-region provider engagement, provider performance, value-based care, network, or field operations organizations
  • Experience supporting ACOs, provider incentive arrangements, alternative payment models, and value-based care programs
  • Experience overseeing operating model design, workforce strategy, organizational transformation, or field enablement initiatives
  • Experience working directly with Market CEOs, CMOs, Executive Directors, provider executives, and enterprise leadership teams
  • Experience with provider analytics, CRM platforms, field enablement technologies, reporting tools, and performance management infrastructure

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $200,400 to $343,500 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
