Overview

Position Summary

The Vice President of Strategic Accounts - Transportation is a senior leadership role responsible for developing, managing, and expanding long-term relationships with the firm's most significant transportation clients. This role focuses on high-value, complex construction management programs within the transportation sector.

This executive will serve as a trusted advisor to key clients, driving account strategy, revenue growth, repeat business, and exceptional project delivery performance in close partnership with operations, preconstruction, and business development teams.

Responsibilities

Strategic Account Leadership
  • Own and lead a portfolio of marquee transportation accounts, serving as the primary executive point of contact.
  • Develop and execute long-term account strategies that align client capital programs with the firm's delivery capabilities and growth objectives.
  • Establish trusted C-suite and senior stakeholder relationships with owners, developers, and end users.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex client matters, ensuring proactive issue resolution and client confidence.

Business Development & Growth
  • Drive organic growth within existing accounts through repeat work, program expansion, and new geographic or service-line opportunities.
  • Partner with Business Development and Marketing teams to pursue and secure new Transportation opportunities.
  • Lead pursuit strategy, executive presentations, interviews, and negotiations for major projects and programs.
  • Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to ensure competitive, value-driven proposals.

Market & Sector Leadership
  • Act as an internal subject-matter leader for the Transportation sector, sharing market intelligence, trends, and best practices.
  • Stay current on Transportation technologies, delivery models, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
  • Support strategic planning efforts related to sector expansion, geographic growth, and service diversification.

Operational Partnership
  • Work closely with Operations leaders to ensure alignment between client expectations and project execution.
  • Advocate for client needs while reinforcing operational discipline around safety, schedule, quality, and cost.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings, major milestones, and post-project reviews as needed.

Financial Accountability
  • Responsible for account revenue, backlog growth, profitability, and client satisfaction metrics.
  • Support forecasting, pipeline management, and long-range business planning for assigned accounts.

Qualifications

Work Experience and Education
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in construction management, general contracting, or owner's representation.
• Significant experience within transpiration environments.
• Proven success managing strategic client relationships and generating repeat business.
• Exceptional executive level communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to balance client advocacy and operational performance.
• Willingness to travel to support clients and projects.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Experience leading national or global Transportation programs.
• Background working with hyperscale, colocation, healthcare systems, or Fortune 500 clients.
• Knowledge of alternative delivery methods (CMAR, Design Build, GMP, Progressive Design Build).
• Professional certifications (PMP, DBIA, LEED, CCM) a plus.
