ABOUT THE ROLE

The VP of Accounting provides strategic leadership for the company's accounting function and is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role serves as the organization's senior accounting expert, leading technical, core, and tax accounting teams, financial reporting, internal controls, audit activities, and team development while supporting a complex, growth-oriented renewable energy business.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Serve as the company's senior accounting leader and trusted advisor on complex accounting, financial reporting, and compliance matters.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to include consolidation of multiple entities, income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Report to Clenera board on a quarterly basis the financial results of the company.
  • Key interface with Israeli parent company to ensure alignment on accounting practices and financial reporting.
  • Review and approve significant accounting positions, judgments, policies, and technical accounting conclusions.
  • Provide strategic oversight of financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with both U.S. GAAP and IFRS requirements.
  • Partner with executive leadership to evaluate the accounting implications of major business initiatives, transactions, financing activities, and organizational changes.
  • Ensure an effective system of internal controls, governance practices, and accounting policies that support a growing and evolving business.
  • Oversee ongoing enhancement of accounting software applications to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and applicable financial reporting results.
  • Oversee relationships with external auditors and provide executive-level leadership throughout the audit process.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments, assessing business impacts and implementation strategies.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting leaders, creating a high-performing organization with strong succession and talent development practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, reporting capabilities, systems, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Responsible for aspects of hiring, training, and developing employees, as well as managing the department's budget.
  • Collaborate with individual department, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
    • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at publicly-traded organization(s) and including leadership responsibility for accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, audit, and internal controls.
    • 5+ years leading managers and developing high-performing accounting teams in a complex, growth-oriented organization.
    • 3+ years expertise in renewables, renewables adjacent, or organization involved with complex tax incentive practices.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • Technology:
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines. Strong understanding and expertise in accounting software applications, preferably NetSuite.
  • Skills/Abilities:
    • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and strong understanding of complex technical accounting matters.
    • Working knowledge of IFRS and the ability to assess accounting implications and reporting considerations.
    • Exceptional accounting judgment and ability to evaluate and approve complex accounting conclusions.
    • Executive presence with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders on accounting and financial reporting matters.
    • Strong leadership and talent development skills, with a demonstrated ability to coach managers and build high-performing teams.
    • Strategic thinker capable of balancing technical accounting requirements with business objectives.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical accounting concepts for non-financial audiences.
