The Vice President of Finance and Procurement is a senior executive leader who partners closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operations Officer of Technology, and the Chief Information Officer. This role is mission critical to the enterprise, with immediate accountability for stabilizing the financial close process of a $100 billion organization.
A primary focus of the role is leading the automation and modernization of financial systems to improve accuracy, reliability, and speed of financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across both finance and information technology, enabling a strong understanding of financial processes, regulatory and audit requirements, and complex technology environments.
In addition, this leader will engage strategically with key vendors at the executive level to renegotiate commercial and service arrangements, ensuring improved value, performance, and outcomes. The Vice President is also responsible for driving transformational initiatives across Finance and Procurement, ensuring these organizations achieve their operational, financial, and strategic objectives.
This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional executive judgment and decision making. Actions taken in this position have a direct impact on the company's ability to operate effectively, meet regulatory obligations, and maintain credibility in the marketplace. Errors or delays in execution could materially affect financial disclosures and corporate reputation.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with senior Finance leadership to rapidly identify root causes of operational and reporting challenges, develop corrective action plans, and lead disciplined execution to resolution.
- Ensure all financial activities meet required accounting standards and successfully pass internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with Finance leaders to identify and implement automation opportunities while maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and control.
- Work closely with Procurement leadership to advance transformation initiatives focused on improved user experience, cost optimization, and measurable financial savings.
- Lead the implementation of new capabilities that enhance forecasting accuracy and materially shorten the financial close cycle.
- Negotiate with existing and prospective vendors to improve commercial terms, service quality, and overall strategic alignment.
- Develop and execute a long-term strategy to streamline and modernize Finance and Procurement through the application of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, in close coordination with Technology leadership.
Use your skills to make an impact Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, including technology strategy, enterprise architecture, or service management.
- Demonstrated expertise in technology lifecycle management, product management, and metrics- or OKR-based performance reporting.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale transformation initiatives and engage effectively with executive stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a strong executive presence.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
