Job Description:

Salary $208,000 - $260,000/Annually

Vitalant is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven fundraising executive to serve as our Vice President, Development. Reporting directly to the President of the Foundation, this leader will play a pivotal role in advancing Vitalant's lifesaving mission by building and growing a robust national philanthropy program. The ideal candidate brings a proven record of cultivating meaningful donor relationships, developing innovative fundraising strategies, and securing transformational gifts. This executive will be energized by connecting donors' passions with opportunities to make a lasting impact while leading efforts across annual giving, monthly giving, employee giving, major gifts, planned giving, and donor stewardship.

Success in this role requires a highly collaborative leader who can inspire confidence, build trust, and engage stakeholders at every level. The Vice President, Development will partner closely with Foundation leadership, executive leaders, regional teams, board members, volunteers, and donors to create and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that advances organizational priorities. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on fundraising expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for supporting healthcare and community-centered missions.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead and execute a national fundraising strategy that drives growth across annual giving, monthly giving, employee giving, major gifts, and planned giving programs.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic supporters while building a strong pipeline of prospective donors and transformational gifts.
  • Partner with Foundation leadership, executive teams, regional leaders, and board members to identify opportunities and advance organizational fundraising priorities.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to development team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and philanthropic excellence.
  • Strengthen donor engagement and stewardship efforts through personalized relationship strategies, compelling mission-based storytelling, and data-driven fundraising practices.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required in Communications, Marketing, Sales, Business or related field.
  • Ten years of management of development functions.
  • Foundational understanding of "best practices" and commitment to ethical fundraising.
  • Fundraising experience in a non-profit setting preferred; or equivalent experience in sales, marketing and communication in the for-profit environment, preferred.
