Job Description:

The Vice President, Data Architecture & Engineering reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and serves as the senior leader responsible for OneOncology's software, data, and integration engineering strategy, execution, and operational excellence. This role provides strategic leadership for all functions within engineering, establishing a unified engineering vision and operating model that delivers secure, scalable, reliable, and interoperable technology solutions. The VP partners closely with Data & Analytics, Security, Infrastructure, and strategic business leaders to accelerate innovation, advance AI-enabled capabilities, and deliver technology that supports OneOncology's operational, and business objectives.

This is a hybrid role based in Nashville, TN. Exceptional remote candidates may also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the enterprise engineering strategy and multi-year technology roadmap aligned with OneOncology's business, clinical, data, and product priorities.


  • Lead Data Engineering, Integration Engineering, platform, and architecture functions with clear accountability across the engineering organization.


  • Lead Software Engineering team in support of creating AI and Data Products


  • Lead and develop engineering directors, managers, architects, and technical leaders; strengthen succession planning, career paths, and leadership capability.


  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into executable engineering plans, investments, and delivery commitments.


  • Own engineering execution across product and platform portfolios, improving delivery predictability, quality, scalability, reliability, and time to value.


  • Establish engineering standards for architecture, software development, testing, deployment, observability, documentation, security, and production support.


  • Drive cloud-native engineering practices including APIs, microservices, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and site reliability practices.


  • Provide executive leadership for enterprise data engineering and data platforms supporting analytics, reporting, AI/ML, interoperability, and operational workloads.


  • Lead enterprise integration and interoperability strategy across EHRs, practice management systems, third-party platforms, APIs, HL7, FHIR, and related standards.


  • Establish engineering KPIs and operating metrics for quality, reliability, delivery performance, technical health, and organizational effectiveness.


  • Lead engineering investment planning, vendor strategy, and resource allocation while balancing innovation, cost, and operational performance.


  • Communicate strategy, progress, risks, dependencies, and investment needs to executives and cross-functional stakeholders while building an inclusive, accountable, high-performing engineering culture.


  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy for artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and intelligent automation, aligning initiatives with business objectives and product strategy.


  • Identify, evaluate, and drive adoption of AI technologies to improve software development, operational efficiency, clinical workflows, and customer experiences.


  • Establish governance, security, and responsible AI practices to ensure compliant, ethical, and scalable implementation of AI solutions.


  • Partner with Product, Data, and Analytics leadership to deliver AI-enabled capabilities leveraging enterprise data assets.


  • Champion the use of AI-assisted engineering tools to improve developer productivity, software quality, and delivery velocity.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Master's degree preferred.


  • 12+ years of progressive experience in software, data, platform, or related engineering disciplines in enterprise-scale technology environments.


  • 7+ years of engineering leadership experience with demonstrated success leading leaders and multi-disciplinary engineering teams through multiple layers of management.


  • Experience leading software engineering, data engineering, integration/interoperability, and cloud/platform capabilities as part of a unified engineering organization.


  • Proven success delivering complex technology programs and modernizing platforms while maintaining security, quality, reliability, and operational stability.


  • Deep understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and production operations.


  • Strong executive communication, organizational leadership, financial management, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.]


  • Healthcare technology experience, including EHR ecosystems, healthcare data exchange, HL7, FHIR, CDA, APIs, or clinical/operational technology platforms.


  • Demonstrated experience leading technology modernization initiatives, including cloud-native platforms and emerging technologies.


Preferred:

  • Microsoft Azure and enterprise cloud modernization experience.


  • Healthcare technology experience, including EHR ecosystems, healthcare data exchange, HL7, FHIR, CDA, APIs, or clinical/operational technology platforms.


  • Experience with enterprise data platforms, analytics/AI ecosystems, data governance, data quality, and regulated healthcare environments.


  • Experience defining and executing enterprise AI or machine learning strategies, including Generative AI, predictive analytics, or intelligent automation initiatives.


  • Knowledge of modern AI/ML platforms, large language models (LLMs), vector databases, AI governance, and responsible AI practices.


  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise software products or internal engineering workflows.


  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI code review, automated testing, or developer productivity platforms).
