This role focuses on originating, structuring, negotiating, and closing complex commercial opportunities that accelerate Assurant's growth in subscription services, embedded protection, fintech solutions, aftermarket programs, and digital customer engagement platforms.
Acting as a commercial architect and growth catalyst, this leader converts OEM demand into scalable, revenue-generating solutions by connecting client needs with Assurant's enterprise capabilities. The role serves as a primary executive relationship owner for key OEM partners and leads cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable revenue growth, EBITDA expansion, and long-term strategic advantage. This aligns with existing USCL VP Business Development roles that emphasize originating strategic partnerships and driving profitable growth through new client acquisition and expansion.

Client Scope & Engagement: Senior- and mid-level client leaders.

Strategic Business Development & Pipeline Growth
  • Own the OEM business development pipeline across priority partners, including current and prospective relationships such as LG, Whirlpool, Bosch, Samsung, and other strategic manufacturers.
  • Create and execute strategic business development plans that generate sustainable year-over-year revenue and EBITDA growth.
  • Identify, qualify, and convert new OEM partnership opportunities across appliance, device, connected home, and emerging ecosystem categories.
  • Develop comprehensive pursuit strategies, account plans, and executive engagement models for targeted OEM prospects.
  • Establish a robust pipeline of opportunities with clear linkage between revenue forecasts, business cases, implementation requirements, and operational readiness.

Opportunity Origination & Solution Development
  • Originate, structure, and commercialize embedded protection, subscription-based services, fintech, and aftermarket solutions.
  • Shape integrated customer propositions that combine warranty, protection, subscription services, trade-in solutions, financing, digital engagement, loyalty, and other value-added offerings.
  • Identify and develop white-space opportunities including:
    • Subscription and recurring revenue models
    • Credit card and financial service integrations
    • Direct-to-consumer expansion
    • Ecosystem lock-in strategies
    • Connected home and IoT services
    • Digital and mobile engagement offerings
    • Develop compelling business cases and value propositions that align client priorities with Assurant capabilities.

Executive Relationship Management
  • Build, expand, and maintain relationships with OEM executive leadership, including C-suite executives, business unit leaders, product organizations, commercial teams, and strategic partnership stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client leadership by understanding market dynamics, growth priorities, competitive pressures, and customer needs.
  • Influence strategic decisions and position Assurant as a preferred growth partner across the OEM ecosystem.

Commercial Structuring & Negotiation
  • Lead all aspects of commercial negotiations, including:
    • Contract terms and conditions
    • Economic structures
    • Revenue-sharing models
    • Partnership frameworks
    • Risk management provisions
    • Long-term strategic agreements
  • Structure complex multi-year commercial arrangements that optimize value creation for both Assurant and the client.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Product, and Risk teams to ensure commercially sound and executable agreements.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams across Product, Operations, Technology, Actuarial, Digital, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Legal.
  • Ensure opportunities are operationally feasible, financially attractive, and aligned with enterprise strategy.
  • Drive internal alignment and accountability throughout the sales lifecycle from opportunity identification through launch and execution.
  • Support successful implementation and scaling of newly acquired business.

Competitive Positioning & Market Expansion
  • Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, customer behavior, and competitive activities.
  • Develop strategies that differentiate Assurant against competitors including Asurion, Domestic & General, and emerging subscription providers.
  • Support international expansion and cross-market scaling opportunities where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with product and strategy teams to identify future growth vectors and innovative solution offerings.
