Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instructional duties including teaching assignments and course preparation.
  • Evaluate and mark student work while advising and providing support to students.
  • Develop and revise curricula to ensure it meets current industry standards.
  • Participate in student registration and pre registration activities.
  • Attend and represent the college at essential school visitations, committee meetings, and articulation meetings.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching and subject competence.
  • Carry out administrative duties as assigned to support program operations.

Full Job Description
Desired Start Date: September 22, 2026

Salary range: $71,846 to $115,129 annually; normal starting salary between $78,872 and $85,897 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.

Bargaining unit: Vocational

Type of appointment: Regular Full-Time

Closing date: August 20, 2026

Schedule: Classes typically held Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day. Please note this will be an afternoon/evening position. A typical instructional week consists of 27.5 hours of instructional time and 2.5 hours of non-student contact time.

Preferred Qualifications: Please note that, as per Article 36 of the BCGEU Vocational Instructors Collective Agreement, all employees on regular appointment, except those employees exempted from this provision by OC, will be required to obtain the BC Provincial Instructor's Diploma, valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment, or equivalent qualification as determined by OC within a maximum of two years from date of appointment in the regular appointment category. This period may be extended by OC because of extenuating circumstances.

  • Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.


Education and Experience

  • A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (Maintenance "M1"/"M2" rating).


  • An undergraduate degree and post-secondary teaching experience are preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience may be considered. Aviation teaching experience would be an asset.


  • An Instructor's Diploma or valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred, and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.


  • Six to ten years recent relevant experience in some or all of the following:
  • Fixed wing maintenance experience on general aviation and/or large transport category aircraft
  • Rotary maintenance experience in light, intermediate, medium or heavy helicopters.
  • Aircraft structural repair experience related to sheet metal, and composites
