Job Description

Role Summary:

We are looking for a highly capable and driven engineer to lead advanced analysis of power electronics components and high voltage bus systems for electrified propulsion applications. In this role, you will help shape component design, optimize system performance, and define robust validation requirements for traction inverters and related power electronics hardware.

This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical analysis, product development, and innovation. You will use simulation, test correlation, and engineering insight to improve efficiency, reduce cost and size, strengthen design robustness, and expand virtualization capability across the development process. The role spans concept through production and requires strong collaboration across engineering, validation, controls, calibration, suppliers, and global support teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform power electronics component and high voltage bus detailed design analyses to:
    • Optimize and define design and validation requirements
    • Predict inverter losses and heat rejection
    • Predict high voltage bus ripple and resonances to determine design and validation requirements
    • Assess the impact of control strategy on component design and validation
    • Assess the impact of design changes on component and system performance
  • Advance analysis methods and capabilities to model and rapidly assess new and emerging technologies
  • Develop and continuously improve standard work and toolchain.
  • Analyze test data and compare to requirements
  • Support power electronics teams in all phases of program execution from concept to production
  • Actively pursue cost reduction, size reduction and efficiency improvement
  • Provide technical leadership in program product development teams pertaining to power inverters and high voltage bus
  • Provide technical leadership in supplier assessment activities pertaining to power inverters and HV bus
  • Provide technical leadership, engineering guidance, and mentoring to power electronics engineers to enable accurate and efficient execution of inverter programs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with many cross functional teams such as: Advanced, Program, Design Release Engineers, Validation, Calibration, and Controls engineering teams
  • Train and direct the work of analysis support team members in India

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • M.S. Electrical Engineering or equivalent with concentration in power electronics or power semiconductors
  • Strong knowledge of electric motor control principles, including torque/speed control and inverter modulation for traction applications
  • Extensive knowledge in power electronics theory and principles
  • Extensive knowledge in design, development, and testing of power inverters and converters
  • Strong hands-on experience with simulation/analysis toolchains, including scripting (e.g., Python/MATLAB) and application of data analytics and AI/ML techniques to power electronics design and validation
  • Experience in design for EMC in power electronics modules
  • Understanding of electrified vehicle system and integration
  • High level of technical problem-solving skills and experience in the production domain to address vehicle level issues
  • High level of project management skills and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work cross functionally with multiple teams to drive work forward.
  • Power Electronics analysis, design, development, validation or release experience
  • Ability to work non-standard hours to collaborate with an analysis support team overseas
  • Ability to create and present information to leadership, peers, customers and suppliers in a clear and concise manner
  • Fluency in using commercial tools for modeling and simulation of power electronics and electric drives (Ansys, Matlab, Simulink, Saber, INCA)
  • Fluency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Ph.D. Degree with specialization in power electronics or power semiconductors
  • 7 years of relevant work experience
