Description
Under general supervision, assists in developing and implementing a districtwide security program, including surveillance, and emergency radio systems. Position is responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of hardware essential to the support of these programs and projects.

CURRENT VACANCY: One full-time position (8 hrs./day, 12 mos./yr.) with the Educational Technology and Information Services, at the Administration Center. Work assignments may be in various locations within the district boundaries (Glendale, La Crescenta or Montrose). The position includes full district-paid benefits for employee and dependants. Maximum District contribution to the health insurance plan is $34,732.44 per year.

-Assures the reliable and efficient operation of the district's security surveillance and emergency radio system; assists in the planning, organizing, controlling, directing, monitoring, and maintenance of the district's technical-based security surveillance programs and emergency radio system; assists in the development and implementation of a districtwide security surveillance policy and emergency radio policy.
-Estimates cost of jobs; specifies, orders, and procures supplies, materials, tools, and equipment for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently; maintains inventory of supplies, parts and equipment; confers with appropriate administrator regarding cost effective use of materials and supplies.

-Plans and coordinates emergency radio and security surveillance system installation with Facilities Planning and Maintenance Department, Educational Technology and Information Services Department, and outside vendors and contractors; serves as liaison for security system vendors and service contractors.
-Assists in the design configuration, installation, maintenance, security, and management of all networked and telecommunication devices related to district security; diagnoses and resolves surveillance and emergency radio problems related to networking and telecommunications; troubleshoots connections and/or networks; isolates software problems from hardware problems; repair equipment or arrange for repair; drives to various sites to conduct work.
-Assists in the planning, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units that support the backup power to the security surveillance servers and related network switches.
-Maps out the security system for the district and provides recommendations and specifications for purchase.
-Researches, evaluates, and recommends new security and emergency radio technology; recommends and implements software and hardware upgrades for all security and emergency radio systems; manages equipment.
-Maintains system documentation for all surveillance and emergency radio systems.
-As needed, climbs an appropriate ladder to install, inspect, repair and troubleshoot equipment (e.g., IP cameras, wireless access points, servers, etc.).
-Monitors and maintains video and intrusion alarm systems; responds appropriately to breaches in security.
-Assists in security implementation in new and remodeled buildings; recommends surveillance system management options.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
Employment Standards
Minimum Requirements:
Five years of experience in electronic security systems repair and maintenance work with at least one year at the journey level.
Desirable qualifications:
Associate's degree or college coursework or related certifications in a related field.

Written and oral proficiency in a second language.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Possession of a valid class C California driver's license. Be insured at standard vehicle liability and property damage insurance rates, and maintain insurability.

Probationary period: 130 days of paid service.
After an offer of employment, a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis.
