Job Summary

The Vice President, Planning is responsible for leading the enterprise planning organization, including Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Inventory Optimization, Enterprise & Customer Programs, and Fill Rate Performance. This leader develops and executes integrated business planning (IBP) strategies that align customer demand, supply capabilities, inventory investments, and service objectives to drive profitable growth and operational excellence. This Vice President role will partner closely with Sales, Operations, Procurement, Distribution, Product Management, Finance, and Customer Experience teams to ensure consistent product availability, optimized inventory deployment, and industry-leading customer service levels.

Primary Duties

Enterprise Planning Leadership
  • Develop and execute the enterprise planning strategy in support of company growth, customer service, and financial objectives.
  • Lead Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Inventory Optimization, Enterprise & Customer Programs teams.
  • Establish planning frameworks, governance processes, and performance metrics that drive accountability across the supply chain.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and data-driven decision making.

Demand Planning
  • Lead the development of statistically-based and collaborative forecasting processes.
  • Partner with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and Finance to improve forecast accuracy and demand visibility.
  • Drive continuous improvement in demand planning methodologies, tools, and analytics.
  • Monitor market trends, customer demand signals, economic factors, and product lifecycle impacts.

Supply Planning
  • Oversee the creation of supply plans that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, supplier capabilities, inventory investments, and cost objectives.
  • Develop proactive risk mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions.
  • Ensure alignment between procurement, manufacturing, distribution, and inventory planning functions.
  • Drive capacity planning and scenario modeling to support business growth.

Inventory Optimization
  • Establish inventory strategies that balance service levels, working capital, and operational efficiency.
  • Optimize inventory deployment across distribution centers and stocking locations.
  • Develop policies related to safety stock, replenishment planning, inventory segmentation, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive reductions in excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory while protecting customer service.

Enterprise & Customer Programs

Lead enterprise-wide planning initiatives supporting key business priorities and strategic growth programs.
  • Partner with commercial teams to support major customer launches, promotions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure cross-functional readiness and execution for customer-specific programs and demand events.
  • Establish scalable planning processes for new products, acquisitions, and business integrations.

Enterprise Fill Rate Performance
  • Own enterprise fill rate performance and customer service metrics.
  • Identify root causes of service level challenges and implement proactive corrective actions.
  • Develop cross-functional action plans to improve availability, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish service-level targets and performance dashboards to drive accountability throughout the organization.

Analytics & Digital Transformation
  • Champion system enhancements and digital transformation initiatives across planning functions.
  • Develop KPI dashboards and performance reporting that provide actionable business insights.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and data accuracy across the organization.


Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; Engineering, Operations, or Supply Chain preferred. Master's degree a plus.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, planning, operations, or inventory management experience.


Qualifications

  • Experience leading Demand Planning, Supply Planning, and Inventory Management within a complex multi-site enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated success driving service level improvements, inventory optimization, and operational performance.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, capital planning, and cost management.
  • Experience implementing advanced planning systems and analytical tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence across functions, and drive execution at scale.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
