1.
Actively participates with other members of the Executive Team in strategic planning and implementation to enhance the success of the organization. Plans and develops divisional goals, objectives, policies, procedures, action plans, and measurements that are consistent with the mission, vision, and strategic plan of the organization that guide and support the provision of services for divisional operations. Implements organizational systems that provide for effective and efficient planning, control, and motivation. Motivates staff to accept and practice the policies, procedures, goals, and objectives through leadership role modeling.
2.
Directs and coordinates, through delegation of authority and accountability to department management, the day-to-day operations of assigned areas of responsibility including:
interviewing, selecting, orienting, evaluating, and terminating staff;
planning for the professional development of staff;
assisting in development and completion of annual goals;
ensuring staff (and self) complete annual employee health requirements and annual mandatory education;
recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/services;
monitors staffing needs and utilization of assigned areas and directs any appropriate alteration;
demonstrates good organizational skills in the preparation of daily work schedules and the assignment of duties and responsibilities;
involves management staff in decision making

Maintains positive physician relationships as observed from physician comments, informal observation of problem solving with physicians, and feedback from Medical Directors (as applicable):
communicates activities, programs, issues to physician/physician offices as applicable;
acts as liaison between medical community and division

Demonstrates effective leadership throughout the organization as evidenced by:
responds positively to changing circumstances so as to maximize the opportunity or minimize the problem;
always acts decisively and takes effective action;
works harmoniously with others and shares information appropriately and in a timely manner

Maintains staff relations as evidenced by:
conducting performance appraisals according to established guidelines;
submitting all required human resources paperwork (i.e., disciplinary forms, change of status, etc.) to the appropriate parties in accordance with policy;
conducting divisional meetings on a monthly basis;
updating performance standards and job descriptions on an annual basis;
dealing with disciplinary matters according to policy;
maintaining positive teammate relations within the division and the organization as observed from teammate comments, informal operations of dealing with teammate relations issues and feedback from the Human Resources Department

Ensures organization policies, procedures and practices are in place and followed and meet the standards and requirements of Joint Commission, state licensing and regulatory authorities, federal agencies and other related groups, as appropriate as evidenced by:
demonstrating knowledge of, adhering to, and promoting System and division safety regulations, disaster plans, emergency codes, infection control policies, fire safety regulations, and hazardous materials disposal;
ensuring full compliance with Teammate Health and Infection Control program including annual surveillance program;
accepting oversight responsibility for the care and maintenance of System equipment;
maintaining current knowledge of legal issues that may impact department;
leading efforts to ensure corporate compliance
7.
Integrates the division of assigned responsibility into the System's primary functions as evidenced by:
organizing, planning, and directing division's functions and activities to comply with short and long-range strategic objectives and organization philosophy and policy;
designing, implementing, and evaluating appropriate programs as requested and approved by Administration and/or governing Board of Trustees or Medical Staff;
maintaining productive and constructive working relationships with other divisions and with other members of the Executive Team;
keeping abreast of knowledge and standards as related to the division/service
8.
Provides mechanisms for establishment, regular review, and evaluation of quality and performance improvement and appropriateness of the activities of the division, including the formulation and administration of policies and procedures and customer satisfaction programs as appropriate as evidenced by:
establishing a performance improvement program which monitors important aspects, identifies problems, implement changes, and evaluates effectiveness of action taken;
working with other divisional leaders to monitor process and functions to continually improve services;
supporting and serving as a role model for customer relations and performance improvement program;
promoting positive relations and displays harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes toward patients, visitors, and health care providers as exhibited by an absence of customer complaints and/or by Administrative observation;
represents the division at various internal and external meetings, committees, and/or organizations as appropriate
9.
Prepares and administers annual operating and capital budget of division and ensures the yearly preparation, approval, and oversight of budgets for all departments as evidenced by:
ensuring the division operates within budget;
responding to responsibility reports on time to ensure ongoing control of budgets;
monitoring operating expenses per statistic (as appropriate) and makes adjustments as appropriate;
monitoring department/division specific indicators and makes adjustments as appropriate or as directed;
managing overtime utilization and FTE levels and makes adjustments as appropriate
10.
Attends and participates in organizations, meetings, and continuing educational opportunities related to self-development and organizational improvement. Responsible for professional development as evidenced by:
attendance at Inservice and continuing education programs;
reporting new information gained through workshops or individual study to peer group and/or department;
establishes professional development goals;
maintains active membership in professional organization
Qualifications include:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program as evidenced by state Licensure
Advanced Degree in Nursing required (Master's)
Master's in Business Administration or master's in health care administration Preferred
Certification / Licensure:
Current North Carolina or Multi State RN Licensure
Certified Nurse Executive (CNE) Preferred
Experience:
Three to five years healthcare management at senior level
Other Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrates Proficiency in Microsoft package including Word and Excel;
Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
Demonstrates diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving;
The successful candidate will be organized and must be able to communicate with other departments and staff in an articulate manner.
