Full Job Description
Vice President of Sales - Equipment Sales (Maryland/DC/Baltimore)

Lead a sales organization. Drive performance. Deliver growth.

MATE is looking for a Vice President of Sales to lead our Equipment Sales organization and help take the business to its next level of growth.

Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the Senior Leadership Team, you'll own the people, performance, and profitability of our equipment sales business. You'll lead an experienced sales organization, strengthen manufacturer and customer relationships, and bring our established sales strategy to life through strong leadership, accountability, and consistent sales performance.

What You'll Lead

You'll have a direct impact on the performance and continued development of our Equipment Sales organization. You'll:
  • Own the Equipment Sales P&L and overall financial performance.
  • Partner with the CEO to advance the established sales strategy, goals, and growth plans across territories and product lines.
  • Coach and develop sales talent, helping an experienced team strengthen performance, build capability, and achieve its goals.
  • Establish KPIs, forecasting, accountability, and performance expectations while using CRM and data to drive decisions.
  • Drive territory and market development, manufacturer and key customer relationships, and the systems and processes that support consistent sales performance.
  • Ensure Mid-Atlantic is a high-performing dealer for every manufacturer we represent across our entire AOR.
  • Partner with Branch Operations, Marketing, and executive leadership on major opportunities and initiatives that create a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

You'll lead the Director of Sales, 11 Regional Sales Managers, Demo Driver, and Marketing Manager, with the opportunity to influence not only the sales organization but the broader business.

Compensation & Benefits

$200,000 guaranteed annual compensation - structured as a combination of base salary and guaranteed draw - with significant additional earning potential through our incentive structure.

You'll also have access to:
  • Company vehicle with EZPass and gas card
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Company-paid life insurance and AD&D
  • Company-paid short- and long-term disability
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Four weeks of annual PTO accrued on a bi-weekly basis
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee Referral Program

What We're Looking For

You're an experienced sales leader who knows how to lead strong teams, grow markets, develop people, and translate strategy into results. You're comfortable moving between executive leadership and the field-coaching salespeople, evaluating territories, reviewing pipelines, and building customer relationships.

You bring:
  • Proven experience leading and developing sales teams and salespeople
  • A track record of profitable sales growth and strong business acumen
  • Experience with sales leadership, forecasting, KPIs, CRM, and performance management
  • The ability to build strong relationships and balance leadership, accountability, and hands-on execution

Experience in heavy equipment, vocational trucks, municipal fleets, equipment dealerships, or related industries is strongly preferred. Candidates with experience in an industry-adjacent environment will also be considered.

Experience managing longer, consultative sales cycles is important in this role. You should be comfortable building relationships over time, navigating multiple decision-makers, and managing opportunities through proposal, demonstration, negotiation, and close. Direct experience selling to municipalities or other public-sector organizations is especially valuable.

The Opportunity

This is a field-oriented executive leadership role with regular travel to work with sales leaders, visit customers, meet with manufacturers, attend dealer meetings and industry events, and spend time in our territories. Expect 50+ trips per year, including a mix of day trips and overnight travel.

Given the geographic scope of the role, candidates should reside within a 2-hour commute of our Corporate Office in Easton, MD. Ideally, you'll be centrally located to support travel across our branches and territories throughout the Maryland/DC/Baltimore region, while maintaining convenient access to Corporate.

In your first year, you'll build relationships, understand the business and team, strengthen sales performance across our territories, and establish a consistent rhythm of coaching, accountability, and performance management.

Long term, the goal is to continue building one of the strongest equipment sales organizations in the industry-one where customers trust us, manufacturers value the partnership, sales leaders are developed from within, and growth is consistent, predictable, and profitable.

If you're looking for a role where you can lead a talented team, build strong customer and manufacturer partnerships, bring an established strategy to life, and have a meaningful impact on the future of the business, we'd like to hear from you.

GEAR UP FOR SUCCESS.
