Description

The Vice President of Development creates and leads the fundraising strategy for ADAPT of the Hudson Valley playing a pivotal role in shaping the organization's future. This senior leadership position is responsible for drafting and executing a comprehensive development program emphasizing major gifts, leadership annual donors, capital campaigns, and planned giving.

The Vice President of Development will also oversee the operational aspects of the program such as gift processing, database management, and research. This role will work closely with the Board, Executive Director, and staff to ensure a culture of philanthropy develops and flourishes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Along with the senior management team, this role will create a set of institutional funding priorities aligned with the annual and multi-year goals of ADAPT of the Hudson Valley.
  • Establish annual revenue goals and create an operating budget to provide the appropriate resources for success.
  • Serve as the chief strategist advising the Foundation Board and Executive Director on donor engagement, cultivation, and solicitation activities.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 250 high-capacity prospects and donors for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Identify prospective annual leadership donors at the $1,000+ level and develop programs to steward their relationships for growth.
  • Identify prospects and donors capable of making a transformational gift of $1 million or more. Create strategies and tactics to facilitate robust yet respectful levels of communication and involvement.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather program and/or financial information for grant solicitation and progress reports.
  • Oversee external-facing events geared toward engaging the community and raising funds.
  • Recruit volunteers from the Board and beyond to serve on a fundraising committee that will assist the Vice President in their outreach efforts.
  • Establish a marketing program for planned or estate giving. This includes an appropriate level of brochures, online materials, and the creation of a "Legacy Society" to steward those who included ADAPT of the Hudson Valley in their estate plans.


Requirements

  • 10+ years of nonprofit fundraising leadership managing multi-million-dollar programs with a successful track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts;
  • Experience working with Boards and volunteer committees to advance the program's goals;
  • Demonstrated experience drafting annual strategic fundraising plans;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Bachelor's degree.

Compensation and benefits:

Salary range: $100,000-$135,000, depending on qualifications
