Full Job Description
Partners with the Executive Vice President to establish strategic direction, operational priorities, and performance objectives for the organization. Leads the development and implementation of business processes that drive coding efficiency, improve productivity and quality, exceed client expectations, and achieve financial targets. Provides oversight of domestic and global coding operations, including production coding, auditing, quality assurance, and client support services. Accountable for client implementation, operational performance, customer satisfaction, compliance, and risk management. Essential Job Responsibilities: Establishes strategic targets and direction, in conjunction with the Executive Vice President, and develops/implements business processes that achieves coding efficiencies, meets/exceeds customer expectations and delivers required financial performance. Responsible for the daily oversight of domestic and global coding operations comprised of production coding, audit, quality assurance and client support. Establishes consistent communication and relationship management practices with clients to foster productive, long-term partnerships built on trust and value. Maintains strong client confidence through regular performance updates, proactive engagement, and ongoing communication delivered both directly and through the Coding Management team. Collaborates with technology development team to automate business processes and creates innovation to improve service delivery through technology. Works with Coding Management, the AVP, Coding Customer Advocacy, and Project Management teams to successfully implement and onboard new clients, ensuring a seamless transition and positive client experience. Leads and coordinates kickoff meetings, go-live activities, and post-implementation follow-up calls and site visits to support operational readiness and client satisfaction. Establishes effective communication processes with staff and peers to support efficient business operations and address individual and organizational needs. Monitors individual and departmental performance against established KPIs and implements targeted improvement strategies to address performance gaps and drive operational success. Analyzes productivity and quality reporting results to develop and implement action plans that drive continuous performance improvement. Monitors and reports on customer service, revenue, P&L, and sales performance to ensure alignment with and achievement of established targets. Manages budgetary information to ensure accurate cost allocation and compliance with financial guidelines. Identifies items and issues with potential budgetary impact and takes appropriate action to mitigate or eliminate financial risk. Supervisory Responsibilities Number of subordinate supervisors reporting to this job 7 Total number of employees supervised; include those directly supervised and those supervised through subordinate supervisors 300+ Job Qualifications: Education Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent Licenses / Certifications RHIT certification; relevant coding credentials preferred, RHIA certification; relevant coding credentials preferred Experience 12-15 years management experience leading coding production organization along with abstracting in ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS/CPT, modifiers . Demonstrated leadership and effective communications at various levels required. Demonstrated success at multi-level and complex client engagements required. Experience leading or working in a production global team Knowledge / Skills • Demonstrated computer and software skills required, including Google Workspace, encoder/grouper, and EHRs. Must possess an extensive knowledge of coding and reimbursement systems, including ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS/CPT, MS-DRGs and APCs. Compensation and Benefits: The maximum annual salary range is $225,000-- $240,000 a year, determined by years of relevant experience, skills, and the specific geographical location where the work is performed.
