Reporting to our SVP Data Center Delivery, IREN is currently looking for a Vice President of Construction - USA to join our Data Center Delivery team supporting our West Texas and Oklahoma campuses.

Job requirements

  • Post secondary education in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, ElectricalEngineeringor a related discipline; a Master's degree, MBA or PMP certification is preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive construction leadership experience, including significant time delivering mission-critical facilities, hyperscale datacenters, or large-scale industrial, energy or advanced manufacturing programs
  • Demonstrated accountability for a construction portfolio of $500M+ in annual capital spend, or for multiple concurrent campuses at gigawatt scale
  • Proven success leading a team of directors and senior managers across multiple geographies, including hiring and scaling a construction organization quickly
  • Deep owner-side or general contractor experience across the full delivery lifecycle: pre-construction, procurement, civil and vertical build, MEP installation, commissioning (L1-L5), integrated systems testing and handover
  • Outstanding health and safety leadership record, with the ability to set culture across a large contractor workforce
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen, including experience with GMP, lump sum and cost-plus delivery models, and the confidence to arbitrate high-value change orders
  • Working knowledge of datacenterelectrical and mechanical systems, and of how utility interconnection and energization drive capacity availability dates
  • Experience partnering with project controls, scheduling and cost management functions and holding them to a high standard
  • Highly proficient in MS Office specifically; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership, service providers and potentially members of the community
  • Thorough research and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement undersignificant timeand capital pressure
  • Superior time management and multitasking skills with a strong senseof urgency
  • Passionate and confident individual with demonstrated organization, prioritization and critical thinking skills
  • Willingness to be based within commutable distance of our West Texas operations and to travel regularly between the Texas and Oklahoma sites


Job responsibilities

  • Portfolio Construction Leadership: Own and oversee all construction functions across the US portfolio, ensuring successful execution of every phase from pre-construction and site enablement through vertical construction, commissioning, energization and closeout.
  • Safety First: Set and enforce an uncompromising health, safety and environmental culture across all sites and contractors, owning leading and lagging indicatorsand driving toward zero harm on every campus.
  • Team Leadership & Organizational Build-Out: Lead, mentor and scale a team of construction directors, senior project managers and site leaders, building the bench strength required to deliver a rapidly growing multi-gigawatt pipeline.
  • Capital Expenditure Ownership: Hold teams accountable for campus capex budgets, ensure compliance with financial controls and approval policies, and partner with Cost Management and Finance on forecasting, contingency and capital efficiency.
  • Contractor & Trade Partner Strategy: Direct the selection, contracting, mobilization and performance management of general contractors, EPCsand major trade partners, and build the long-term contractor relationships that secure capacity in a constrained market.
  • Schedule Performance: Partner with Data Center Scheduling to drive the integrated master schedule, protect critical path and energization dates, and lead recovery when milestones are at risk.
  • Quality & Constructability: Own construction quality standards and inspection regimes, and drive constructability and value engineering input into design with the Design & Engineering team.
  • Commissioning & Handover: Ensure seamless integration between construction,commissioning and Operations, delivering facilities that transition to service without punch-list drag or reliability compromise.
  • Power & Interconnection Coordination:Work closely with the Energy and Interconnection teams to sequence utility works, substation delivery and energization against the construction programme.
  • Standards & Continuous Improvement: Institutionalize construction standards, playbooks and lessons learned across campuses to drive repeatability, speed and cost reduction as the portfolio scales.
  • Executive & Board Reporting: Report construction status, risk and capital performance to the SVP - Data Center Delivery, executive leadership and the Board, with clear escalation and decision recommendations.
  • Community & Stakeholder Engagement:Represent IREN with local authorities, permitting bodies and the communities hosting our campuses, supporting local workforce development and maintaining our social licence to operate.
