This role is responsible for leading VDC Project Managers and their project portfolios to ensure projects are consistently prepared for production through strong leadership, early risk identification, operational consistency, accountability, and continuous development of project management capability. The VDC Project Executive serves as a force multiplier for the Director of VDC by strengthening project execution systems and leadership across the organization.
What you'll do:
• Lead a group of VDC Project Managers and provide oversight of their assigned project portfolios.
• Coach and develop Project Managers in planning, communication, decision-making, accountability, and leadership skills.
• Review project schedules, production readiness, workload forecasts, and execution plans to ensure projects are moving toward fabrication and construction milestones.
• Identify project constraints, execution risks, resource shortages, and schedule conflicts before they impact fabrication, field installation, or customer commitments.
• Partner with VDC leadership, operations, fabrication, field leadership, and project teams to align priorities and resolve project challenges.
• Reinforce implementation of VOS standards, workflows, forms, and operating practices across assigned projects.
• Conduct routine project reviews to evaluate project health, commitment reliability, resource utilization, and production readiness.(Based on project oversight responsibilities in VOS-202.)
• Support Project Managers in resolving issues while maintaining project ownership and accountability at the appropriate level.
• Escalate issues requiring broader organizational authority, additional resources, cross-functional alignment, or executive involvement.
• Support onboarding and development of current and future Project Managers.
• Identify recurring project execution challenges and drive improvements to VDC systems, standards, and processes.
• Participate in workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives within the VDC organization.(Aligned with leadership development mission of the role.)
• Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and commitment reliability across all assigned projects.
What you'll need (minimum qualifications):
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction, fabrication, VDC, project management, or related construction operations.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing Project Managers, VDC personnel, construction teams, or similar operational groups.
• Strong understanding of project execution, scheduling, fabrication workflows, field operations, and construction project delivery.
• Proven ability to lead multiple projects and teams simultaneously while maintaining operational consistency.
• Strong communication, coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to identify risks early and drive resolution before commitments are impacted.
• Strong organizational and decision-making skills with the ability to balance competing priorities.
• Experience building relationships across operations, fabrication, field leadership, and executive teams.
• High level of professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
Prior work experience and educational requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience managing large project portfolios in mechanical construction, VDC, fabrication, or related operations.
• Experience developing and mentoring Project Managers and technical leaders.
• Experience with construction planning, scheduling, resource forecasting, and operational performance management.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Fabrication CADmep, Stratus, and related VDC technologies is preferred.
