Position Description:Manage Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) department within office location(s) and lead preconstruction, engineering, and field installation of VDC project deliverables.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) department, office, and/or project budget, including forecasting and actuals for third-party resources, employee costs, hardware and software purchases for approval. Track and report departmental financial performance, including profit and loss metrics. Review and approve project VDC budgets.
  • Develop workforce plans for staff resources including acquiring, hiring, capacity planning, and work assignments.
  • Oversee VDC staff resources for performance and development, identify appropriate training to help with employee development needs.
  • Collaborate with HR Talent Acquisition team to define staffing requirements and develop talent pipeline for external candidates to fulfill workforce planning assignments. Participate in hiring process, including interviewing and candidate selection feedback.
  • Collaborate with HR team to develop talent pipeline for internal candidates to take on larger roles through technical training and leadership development.
  • Draft and approve VDC action plans and schedules to align with project goals and Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements.
  • Maintain open communication with VDC leadership to ensure alignment with office(s) or profit center VDC strategies.
  • Support Business Development teams to contribute content that highlights VDC capabilities and provide visuals for RFP responses.
  • Partner with local VDC leadership team to define, implement, and keep current VDC Services & Rates menu to support development and communication of VDC capabilities and benefits to clients and stakeholders.
  • Encourage team contributions for continuous improvement of VDC processes and deliverables, evaluate and implement improvements to VDC tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Research and suggest potential pilots of digital tools and opportunities for in-house development. Prioritize those with most impact and review with VDC leadership to initiate.
  • Network with external industry groups to identify VDC revenue workstreams and innovation opportunities. Collaborate with VDC and office leadership to implement emerging technologies within VDC services.
  • Standardize VDC project workflows, archive protocols, and track lessons learned.
  • Review tracked progress of VDC deliverables across projects.
  • Visit job sites to assist with project set-up, troubleshoot VDC Service issues, and resolve VDC related challenges, engage with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, design team) as appropriate.
  • Work in collaboration with Finance and Operations teams to identify opportunities for VDC reimbursement, audit time tracking, and alignment to appropriate cost center to maximize reimbursement.
  • Supervise team and participate in hiring process, onboarding, and deliver timely performance feedback for direct reports, contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program in Construction Management, Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), Architectural, Engineering, or related field of study, and minimum 8 years of related experience, and with progressive exposure to design, cost, sequence, logistics, and field installations of project components as it relates to VDC, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of VDC tools and applications in construction, cost, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
  • Able to establish, forecast, and manage to budget
  • Advanced project management expertise, able to develop, communicate and implement processes
  • Knowledgeable of economic and social issues, trends, impacts to local community and trades and able to develop professional network with related industry organizations
  • Advanced presentation delivery skills to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and influence decision making
