Job Description:

Caterpillar's EMD division is hiring Value Chain Designer in Peoria, IL!

Role Summary: In this role you will design and implement new processes or updates to existing processes to improve end-to-end value chain performance. Develop a network value-stream model that depicts current state value chain network and may compare it to alternate network configurations (future state). In this role you will design and implement new processes for Medium Tractor Value Stream team to deliver Sustainable Value Creation and work across entire value chain to identify and execute cost opportunities to achieve goals.

What You'll Do (Job Duties)
  • Analyzing the inbound, value add and outbound value chains to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Developing business cases and capability studies, recommending improvements to stakeholders.
  • Implementing new and enhanced processes and tools and governing changes through collaboration across multiple workstreams to ensure alignment.
  • Identifying process inefficiencies and wastes of time, money, materials, and energy.
  • Designing and implementing end-to-end value chain improvements.
  • Managing high-impact, short and long duration value chain improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Managing risk and recovery related to foreseeable and unforeseeable value chain disruptions.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fields or equivalent experience.


What You Have (Core Skills)
  • Business Process Design: Knowledge of business process design; ability to develop appropriate techniques to re-examine key processes and focus on optimizing organizational performance.
  • Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business related activities.
  • Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Process Mapping/Flowcharting: Knowledge of the concepts of process mapping; ability to carry out the documentation of current and proposed manufacturing processes to identify and make improvements.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.

Top Candidates Will Also Have
  • Knowledge of Value Stream Mapping, LCP I, LCP II and VAVE. Ability to work across the end-to-end value stream to improve efficiency.
  • Nice to have AI experience to identify opportunities with diverse data sets.
  • Prior experience with Product group.
  • Communicate effectively with c-suite to demonstrate concise, data-driven and strategic communication skills.

  • Work location: Peoria, IL

  • Travel: Up to 15% domestic and international
  • This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)


Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
