Job Summary:

Vacuum Maintenance Engineer:

Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs, and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. Perform equipment modifications as necessary. Develop improvements to increase reliability of older equipment and increase performance of newer equipment. Focus on Applied Materials Centura/Endura with Etch/CVD chambers, EVG wafer bonders, SEM, FIB, Oxford ALD, 4Wave IBD systems. Working closely with production engineering to support current production and achieve new development design tasks.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance with ownership of preventative and corrective maintenance activities for the vacuum process area

  • Collect data and perform analysis of required work

  • Identify technical problems and implement solutions as appropriate

  • Collaborating with team members on complex equipment issues to minimize equipment downtime

  • Troubleshooting problems

  • Maintain records and reports as required. Ownership of PM schedule, checklists and open items for the area

  • In charge of equipment related vendor engagement for the area

  • Order and install parts

  • Respond to emergency service calls as required

  • Perform upgrades and modifications to equipment as needed

  • Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and security of company provided tools, equipment, etc.

  • Responsible for following proper industry safety procedures when working with potentially dangerous elements or conditions such as chemicals, high voltage/high current, moving mechanical parts, high pressure gases, hazardous gases, radiation, etc.

  • Must maintain personal and professional standards of conduct

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years’ experience including equipment troubleshooting, modifications and improvements in semiconductor type industry on vacuum deposition/etch systems, and bonders.

  • Ability to use intermediate math skills to analyze data

  • Prior experience repairing equipment in a cleanroom environment

  • Ability to work in a yellow-light cleanroom environment wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Ability and willingness to follow strict written operational guidelines

  • Excellent customer interface skills are required

  • Ability to work in confined areas in a clean room environment, in awkward positions and at heights

  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds

  • May require bending/stooping/crawling/climbing

  • May require the use of personal protection equipment

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude

  • Prior experience in maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and improvements.

  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting abilities, PLC experience a plus

  • Knowledge of commonly used business and technical software

Desired Background

  • Understanding of PVD, IBD, ALD and RIE processes and motivation to help improve the area

  • All components of vacuum systems; Cryos, turbos, RF generators, matching networks, crystal dep rate controllers and heads, PBNs, Grid sets, MFCs.

  • Plasma operation and control, troubleshooting flow and ignition issues

  • Knowledge of managing installation and de-commissioning projects within production or Research and Development (R&D) environments, including familiarity with architectural drawings and building control software.

  • Experience with Applied Materials Centura/Endura systems, IBD systems (especially 4Wave) EVG bonders a plus

Salary Range:

$96,600.00-$128,800.000
