About the Project:

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview:

The Verification & Validation (V&V) Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing project verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, operational, and safety requirements across the ECWE program.

The role focuses on implementation and management of the project V&V process, requirements traceability, verification evidence coordination, and support to testing and integration activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement the Project Verification & Validation Plan.
  • Manage the Requirements Traceability Verification Matrix (RTVM) and associated verification status tracking.
  • Coordinate verification activities across design, testing, commissioning, integration, quality, and assurance teams.
  • Support verification of system and subsystem compliance against project requirements.
  • Coordinate verification evidence collection, review, and closure activities.
  • Support FAT, SAT, integration testing, and system validation activities.
  • Track V&V-related risks, open points, assumptions, and non-conformances.
  • Prepare V&V dashboards, progress reports, and verification status updates.
  • Support audits, reviews, and handover readiness activities.
  • Coordinate with Systems Engineering, Integration, and System Assurance teams to maintain alignment across lifecycle activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable railway standards and project procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree is an asset.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in Verification & Validation (V&V), systems engineering, or a related role within complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and implementing V&V plans and processes across the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong expertise in requirements management and traceability, including hands-on experience with Requirements Traceability Verification Matrices (RTVM) and related tools (e.g., DOORS or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to coordinate V&V activities across multiple teams, including design, integration, testing, commissioning, quality, and system assurance.
  • Experience managing verification evidence, including collection, review, tracking, and closure of verification items.
  • Solid understanding of system and subsystem verification, including support of FAT, SAT, integration testing, and system validation activities.
  • Familiarity with tracking and managing V&V risks, open points, assumptions, and non-conformances.
  • Experience preparing V&V reports, dashboards, and status updates for project stakeholders and leadership.
  • Knowledge of audit processes, technical reviews, and project handover requirements.
  • Strong understanding of railway standards, safety requirements, and project compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience in rail, transportation, infrastructure, or other safety-critical environments is strongly preferred.
