Role Overview:The UX Engineer (L2) is responsible for the planning, design, and development of intuitive user experiences for complex systems, devices, and tools. This role involves establishing interactive conventions, gathering user requirements, and facilitating trade-off discussions with development teams and subject matter experts. You will apply visualization and design expertise to create high-impact user interfaces and help customers envision new interactive technologies.
Core Responsibilities:- User Research & Data Collection: Support the UX Lead by executing research protocols (interviews, usability tests, contextual inquiries) to capture behavioral and attitudinal data. Administer quantitative methods, such as surveys, card sorting, and tree testing.
- Data Synthesis & Analysis: Observe and document user behaviors and pain points, distinguishing between user feedback and actual requirements. Organize raw data and session artifacts into structured formats for leadership analysis.
- Design & Prototyping: Create effective screen mock-ups and prototypes. Facilitate interactive conventions that meet user needs while balancing technical constraints.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with developers and stakeholders to refine design concepts and validate interactive techniques.
Skills & Qualifications:- Research Expertise: Hands-on experience conducting end-to-end usability testing, interviews, and contextual inquiries. Proficiency in both qualitative discovery and quantitative data collection methods (A/B testing, analytics review).
- Analytical & Organizational Skills: Strong note-taking and data structuring capabilities; ability to capture raw findings accurately for synthesis.
- Strategic Design: Proven ability to operate within ambiguous, evolving requirements, particularly in mission/IC environments.
- Tool Proficiency: Minimum of three (3) years of experience with screen mock-up and prototyping tools (e.g., Axure, Visio, PowerPoint).
Required SkillsRequirements:- Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in User Experience Design, with at least five (5) of those years leading project life cycle design within the last decade.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. (Alternative: Four (4) years of additional relevant UX design experience may be substituted for a degree).
