POSITION TITLE: VP of Strategy and Executive OperationsDEPARTMENT: Executive OperationsREPORTS TO: Chief Executive OfficerTYPE: Full Time, ExemptLocation:Hybrid, Charlotte, NCSalary: $103,506 to $115,319About the RoleThe VP of Strategy and Executive Operations is an executive-level position, reporting to the CEO, and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. This role sits at the intersection of executive partnership and strategic execution. You will manage the CEO's cadence, priorities, and board relationships while also owning the formal project management of a new organization-wide strategy, building the workplan, holding department owners accountable, and reporting on progress.
Together, this work frees the CEO to focus outward, on fundraising, partnerships, and community leadership, while you keep the inside of the organization moving, tracked, and accountable.
What You'll DoSupport the CEO- Manage her meeting cadence, agendas, briefings, and follow-up
- Track commitments made by the CEO and leadership team, and follow up until they're done
- Flag bottlenecks and misalignment across departments before they slow things down
- Act as a sounding board on strategy, structure, and risk
- Represent the CEO in select meetings when she can't attend
- Manage the Office of the CEO budget
Lead Strategic ExecutionThis is the core of the role. UWGC is rolling out a new organization-wide strategy, and this person owns making it real, on paper and in practice, across every department.
- Build and own the full workplan: milestones, owners, deadlines, and how the pieces depend on each other
- Break the strategy into workstreams for each department, working directly with those teams to sequence the work and set realistic timelines
- Set up a simple, consistent system for status updates, risk tracking, and flagging decisions that need to go up to the CEO or leadership
- Manage the handoffs and overlaps between workstreams, so one team's timeline doesn't quietly wreck another's
- Run regular check-ins with the CEO and leadership team to review progress, clear blockers, and adjust the plan as reality changes it
- Own change management for the rollout: build the plan for how staff learn about the changes, why they matter, and what's different in their day-to-day work
- Work with department leads to identify where staff will need extra support, training, or communication as new processes land
- Build the internal communications that keep staff at every level informed on progress and their role in it, partnering with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and marketing team
- Take on special projects at the CEO's direction, from scoping to delivery
Support the Board- Work with the Board Liaison to prep materials for board and committee meetings
- Help build agendas, dashboards, and follow-up items with the CEO and Board Chair
- Track board decisions and requests through to completion
- Support onboarding for new trustees
Track Performance- Build and maintain a dashboard for the strategy rollout's key metrics
- Pull data from program, finance, revenue, and operations teams
- Turn that data into insights leadership and the board can act on
- Use AI tools to make reporting faster and more useful
What You Bring- A track record leading complex, cross-functional projects from plan to execution
- Experience supporting executives or serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
- Experience preparing materials for a board or senior governing body
- Strong writing and presentation skills, and good judgment with confidential information
- Background in change management, organizational development, or people strategy is a plus
- PMP or equivalent project management credential is a plus
- Genuine connection to Charlotte and the communities UWGC serves
