USMC Network Engineer / Site Lead - C

Job Description

This position will be based at MCB Camp Pendleton

Responsibilities:
• Identify, gather and review requirements collection supporting the design and implementation of Cisco VoIP system and associated wired network systems.
• Perform site surveys to support VoIP systems design and associated network support fielding to include identifying device placement and materials required to implement and configure systems.
• Creates and delivers extensive documentation of the design, device location, required materials and integration approach for the VoIP/wired network.
• Relies on extensive knowledge of networks to facilitate the design of VoIP/wired LAN/WAN systems and enable their integration into an existing wired network.
• Performs test and evaluation of VoIP/wired networks to confirm performance and security in accordance with established thresholds.
• Supports design and tests of prototype network components and configurations to validate designs prior to fielding as required
• Provides recommendations to eliminate problems and make improvements.
• Provides and authors detailed technical documentation to include proposal documentation, integration instructions, assembly.
• Trains technicians and junior engineers.
• Leads and directs the work of others to include team members and subcontractors.
• Provide quality control/inspection of site work done by subordinates and subcontractors

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
• An active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or experience (6 years).
• Candidate must be DoD 8140 IAT Level II compliant.
• Experience in general networking and network administration, upgrade and operations.
• Good technical writing skills with established experience producing reports using the Microsoft Office Suite including Visio. Knowledge of elementary design to the concept level.
• An understanding of telecommunication room (TR), CAT 6, crimps, and wiring standards.
• Experience with team leading, site survey, site installation and configuration of Cisco VoIP and network systems. Having Cisco CCNP certification is a plus.
• Use measuring and diagnostic equipment to test, adjust and optimize network system operations.
• An understanding of wired networks to include equipment (router, switch and VPN), protocols (VLan, Trunking and QoS) and the propagation of network traffic.
• In accordance with our travel reimbursement policy, employees must pay for travel expenses in advance which will be timely reimbursed.
• The ability to travel up to 85% of the time.
• Exceptional people skills with focus on good customer relations and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of military and government personnel.
• A valid driver's license is also required.
• The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires US citizenship.
