USA - Tax - Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) - Financial Services Organization (FSO) - Business Advisory - Analyst

Will you shape the future or will the future shape you?

The opportunity

Join our dynamic EY Tax team, where our global expertise and deep technical knowledge across all tax disciplines are enhanced by the latest in innovation and cutting-edge technology. We pride ourselves on exceptional client service, strong accountability, and governance, making us the top choice for industry executives and the largest revenue-generating US and global tax practice.

Our Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) team offers services to enhance the operational efficiency of tax functions and the delivery of technical services, supported by a team of over 1,200 professionals. Our core focus areas include transforming tax functions, integrating with finance and business processes, and optimizing enterprise systems, all bolstered by strategic alliances. We aim to revolutionize tax and finance operations through strategy development, digitalization, and leveraging technology to automate compliance, reporting, and provide valuable insights to our clients.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Business Advisory Analyst within FSO TTT, you will help financial services organizations transform their tax functions by analyzing business needs, improving processes, supporting operating model design, and helping implement practical solutions that create more efficient, effective, and sustainable tax and finance operations. FSO TTT embraces a "Forward Deployed Engineer" model to bring the right mix of technology and process review skills to our clients to best integrate and leverage AI.

You will learn about the latest trends shaping tax and finance transformation and how to become a trusted client advisor. You will learn about client organizations, cultures, challenges, goals, and the ways tax functions connect with finance, operations, technology, risk, and internal stakeholders. You will work on client deliverables and may participate directly with clients in strategy meetings, requirements sessions, workshops, status discussions, and change management activities. Our clients are located nationwide, so travel may be a part of the role.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Business Advisory Analyst in the FSO TTT practice may include:

  • Supporting business analysis and requirements definition by gathering information, documenting current-state processes, identifying pain points, and translating stakeholder needs into clear project inputs.

  • Helping design future-state tax operating models, workflows, governance structures, controls, and process improvements that support more efficient and scalable tax and finance operations.

  • Analyzing financial, operational, and tax process information to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and practical recommendations for clients.

  • Preparing client-ready materials, including process documentation, change impact summaries, project plans, status updates, workshop materials, and executive-level presentations.

  • Providing program and project support to team members by tracking activities, coordinating stakeholders, organizing deliverables, and helping ensure timely execution of project outcomes.

  • Exploring how data, automation, AI, and tax technology can support business transformation, improve decision-making, and strengthen client operating models.

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, Management, MBA program, or an Accounting major and a double major/minor in a technology related field, supported by a strong academic record.

  • 3.0 cumulative college/university GPA.

  • Excellent communication, business-writing, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity about technology, and an entrepreneurial approach to identifying practical solutions.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the confidence to prioritize your workload within tight deadlines.

  • The flexibility to work consistently, both individually and as part of a focused team.

  • A foundational understanding of data management, databases, analytics, programming, automation or systems concepts, with an interest in applying those skills to solve business and tax challenges.

  • An interest working in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.

  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.

  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.

  • You must reside within a commutable distance of the office location associated with this position.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Cumulative college/university GPA of 3.2 or above.

  • Coursework, internships, case competitions, or leadership roles with consulting, finance, accounting, economics, analytics, operations, or project management experience that demonstrates business judgment, client service orientation, and comfort working with ambiguity.

  • An interest in financial services and how banking, capital markets, insurance, wealth and asset management, private equity, or real estate organizations manage tax, finance, risk, and operational complexity.

  • Knowledge of how to leverage firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.
