What you'll do...
Role summary:

As an Applied Scientist, you will collaborate with business, product, and backend engineering teams to drive high-impact projects for Driver Matching and Personalization System. The machine learning solution in these domains vary from deep learning models, reinforcement learning models, recommendation systems, and causal ML models. You will play a critical role in driving innovation and optimizing revenue through the application of advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. The impact of this role is extremely high and directly contributes to reducing fraud/defects, enhancing efficiency, improving delivery reliability, and ensuring driver experience.
About the team:

The Spark Driver Platform operates nationwide, supporting millions of drivers to deliver local services efficiently. The Spark Driver Applied AI team focuses on advancing machine learning, data science, and economic models to enhance platform efficiency and profitability. The team develops scalable, reliable production systems that drive growth in areas such as Capacity Planning, Driver Search, Matching, Offer and Surge Pricing, Incentive Strategy, and ETA prediction. This collaborative environment leverages advanced analytics and predictive modeling to solve complex business challenges and accelerate innovation within Walmart's largest local delivery service.
What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that our data science product supports Walmart's business objectives.
  • Explore the latest trends in machine learning and optimization techniques to innovate solutions to solve high-impact and complex business problems.
  • Build data pipelines from multiple sources and extract data insights using data exploration and visualization techniques.
  • Design, implement, productionize, and deploy end to end machine learning solutions with consideration for optimality and computation complexity.
  • Design and implement experiments to develop NorthStar metrics, draw unbiased and robust statistical inferences, and establish causality.

What you'll bring:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operation Research, Economics, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, statistical analysis, Reinforcement learning, personalization, and ranking experience.
  • Proven track record of building and deploying algorithms/models in production.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, C, or C++.
  • Experience with large-scale data systems (Spark/Hive) and cloud computing (GCP/Azure).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects from conception to completion in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
