Full Job Description
The IC&E Designer - Smart Instrumentation (SI), formerly known as SPI/INtool and AutoCAD, is an essential partner on the IC&E Engineering team and plays a key role in supporting Client/RD facilities for safe, reliable, and compliant operation. This position provides hands-on IC&E design execution and documentation support, with a strong emphasis on Smart Instrumentation (SI) content, formerly known as SPI/INTools including AutoCAD-based design execution and drawing updates, as an individual contributor.

This role focuses on field verification, as-built reconciliation, and execution of approved design changes in Smart Instrumentation (SI) and AutoCAD in support of MOCs, routine maintenance, and capital work.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform field walkdowns and site surveys to verify existing instrumentation and electrical installations.
Execute as-built reconciliation by translating verified field conditions and redlines into accurate design documentation.
Perform Smart Instrumentation (SI) design execution, including:
Creation and update of loop data (Loop module)
Wiring and termination design entries (Wiring/Termination modules)
Instrument tag creation and updates tied to approved changes (Instrument Index/tag register)
Verification of Smart Instrumentation (SI) design content (e.g., spec sheet module, instrument index) against field installations and drawings
Provide CAD-based IC&E design support for Management of Change (MOC), routine maintenance, and capital projects.
Create, revise, and maintain IC&E design drawings in AutoCAD, including:
Electrical one-line diagrams
Wiring diagrams and cable schedules
Motor Schematics
Control loop drawings
Panel, marshaling cabinet, and enclosure drawings
General arrangement and installation drawings
Coordinate with IC&E engineers, reliability personnel, and site staff to ensure Smart Instrumentation (SI) design data and AutoCAD drawings accurately reflect approved and as-built field conditions.
Support Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements by ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and audit-ready.
Identify discrepancies between Smart Instrumentation (SI), drawings, and field conditions and work them to resolution through established design workflows.
Manage multiple design assignments concurrently and work independently to agreed schedules.
Communicate clearly and proactively with IC&E and site stakeholders.
Location
Geismar, LA, or Ames, IA
