Job Description Summary
This is a remote central research administration position reporting to the Associate Director, Clinical Trial Management Systems within the Office of Clinical Research (OCR) under the Office of the Vice President for Research. The Clinical Research Analytics & Systems Analyst serves as the primary resource for clinical research metrics, reporting, analytics, and data visualization across the research enterprise. The role develops, maintains, and analyzes operational and strategic performance metrics using Power BI, Advarra Analytics, OnCore, and other research systems to support data-driven decision-making, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

This position collaborates with OCR leadership and staff, investigators, study teams, research administrators, and technical teams to develop meaningful dashboards, reports, and performance indicators that support optimized research activation, participant accrual, data entry timeliness, financial performance, compliance, and overall research operations. Financial reporting responsibilities include combining, validating, and reconciling OnCore invoice and payment information with Workday financial data to monitor invoiced revenue, payments received, outstanding balances, and overall clinical trial financial performance. The role also serves as a backup resource for the OnCore support team, assisting with user support, troubleshooting, reporting, testing, and training activities as needed.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Clinical Research, Public Health, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field. Two (2) years of relevant experience in clinical research, healthcare analytics, business intelligence, research administration, or research systems support. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with OnCore Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS). Experience with Advarra Analytics. Experience developing dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI. Experience working within an academic medical center or clinical research environment. Knowledge of clinical research operations, study activation, participant accrual, data entry timeliness, and financial management processes. Experience using Workday financial data or similar enterprise financial systems for reporting and reconciliation. Experience with SQL, database management, reporting tools, and data visualization platforms. Familiarity with research systems such as REDCap, Epic Research, and eIRB. Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (CCRP), Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), or equivalent preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

30% - Research Analytics, Metrics, and Reporting

Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise research dashboards, reports, scorecards, and visualizations utilizing Power BI, Advarra Analytics, and other reporting tools.

Design and implement metric tracking processes that support OCR operational objectives and strategic priorities. Analyze research operational data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance improvement initiatives. Develop recurring and ad hoc reports for OCR leadership, research administration offices, departments, and institutional committees. Translate complex data into meaningful visualizations and executive-level summaries to support organizational analysis and decision-making. Monitor and report on key research performance indicators, including study activation timelines, participant accrual against study targets, participant status, data entry timeliness and completeness, research financial performance, and operational efficiency.

30% - Data Analytics and Business Intelligence

Collaborate with stakeholders to define reporting requirements and develop analytics solutions that support operational and strategic research needs.

Evaluate data sources and identify opportunities to improve data collection, standardization, reporting, and analytics processes. Support development and validation of key performance indicators across research systems and programs. Perform data quality reviews and validation activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and integrity of information reported from OnCore, Workday, Advarra Analytics, and other research systems. Integrate, validate, and reconcile data from multiple systems to meet enterprise reporting and analytics needs, including combining OnCore invoice and payment records with Workday financial data to support reporting on invoiced revenue, payments received, outstanding balances, reconciliation status, and clinical trial financial performance.

20% - Research Systems Support and OnCore Backup Coverage

Serve as a backup resource for the OnCore support team. Assist with user support, issue resolution, testing, system maintenance, and workflow troubleshooting. Support report development, system optimization, and data integrity initiatives within OnCore and associated research systems.

Participate in system enhancement, upgrade, and implementation activities as assigned.

Collaborate with research and technical teams to identify and resolve issues impacting research operations and reporting.

10% - Process Improvement and Data Governance

Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, operational efficiency, and data quality.

Support data governance initiatives, including development of reporting standards, definitions, and documentation. Document report methodologies, dashboard specifications, business requirements, and data definitions. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and operational assessments utilizing data-driven approaches.

10% - Stakeholder Engagement, Communication, and Training

Collaborate with investigators, study teams, departmental administrators, OCR leadership, and technical teams to support reporting and analytics needs. Develop and maintain user guides, training materials, and educational resources related to reporting tools and dashboards.

Present analytical findings, trends, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership groups.

Serve as a subject matter resource for research metrics, reporting, and analytics within the Office of Clinical Research.
