Job Duties

Enhances public safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia and Department of Corrections (DOC) staff and inmates, by meeting re-entry objectives and by providing effective security, programming, custody, and control of adult inmates in a major correctional facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive working knowledge of prison operations, policies, and procedures. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships. Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver reports and presentations to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to make effective operational decisions.

Additional Considerations

Experience effectively communicating with all levels of institutional staff, inmates, and inmate family members. Working knowledge of security and treatment within an adult correctional setting. Working knowledge of evidence-based research and practices for prison operations. Working knowledge of reentry programs and services available to inmates. Experience supervising correctional staff.
