Responsibilities

  • Provide answers to technical client coverage questions and special requests.
  • Assist Fund Manager, Account Manager, and Branch Manager with underwriting and program administration.
  • Communicate with association directors, trustees, and brokers for administrative support.
  • Coordinate the mid-term and year-end renewal process.
  • Prepare monthly reports and assist with marketing presentations and quotes.
  • Issue certificates of coverage and prepare management fee invoices.
  • Attend Board meetings, preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes.

Overview Section:

 

Position Title: Underwriter, Senior

Location: Reading, MA (hybrid reporting)

Schedule: 8:00 am-4:30 pm ET

Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000

 

The Senior Underwriter provides customer service to association account members.  They will also perform underwriting and other administrative functions. Must have the ability work independently and provide direct Underwriting support on a dedicated program.

Responsibilities
  • Answer technical client coverage questions and special requests.
  • Coordinate and assist Fund Manager, Account Manager and Branch Manager in underwriting and program administration functions.
  • Communication with and assist association directors, trustees, excess brokers, and various CCMSI staff with administration.
  • Coordinate mid-term and year-end renewal process.
  • Notify Excess Department of non-standard certificate requests.
  • Prepare monthly reports.
  • Provide marketing assistance, presentations, and quotes.
  • Issue certificate of coverage.
  • Prepare invoices for management fees.
  • Maintain member documents, certificates, billing statements and correspondence.
  • Attend Board meetings, prepare Board agendas and packages; set up meeting place, time, meals, and needed equipment.
  • Execute special assignments requested by Account Executive Director and Board; take and transcribe minutes at Board meeting; prepare reports, and make special presentations at Board meetings, as requested.
  • Compile data for excess submission, as requested.
  • Obtain familiarity with applicable industry regulations.
    • MA SIG group experience mandatory
    • Knowledge of MA Regulations for self-insured groups
    • Familiarity with MA Division of Insurance
    • Direct Supervision and over-site of Payroll audit process

Education and/or Experience                                                       

  • Bachelor degree with two years in Underwriting function or five years in Underwriting function.
  • 10-15 years experience. 

 

Computer Skills                                                       

Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. 

 

Nice to Have:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency — highly valued for communicating with claimants, employers, or vendors, but not required.

The posted salary reflects CCMSI’s good-faith estimate in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity. This role may also qualify for bonuses or additional forms of pay.
